Gears of War: Reloaded is a remaster of the original 2006 release for modern consoles and PC. It’s essentially the same Ultimate Edition, but with plenty of improvements across the board, including support for 4K, HDR, VRR, and more.
The PC version is seeing the least graphical improvements since the Ultimate Edition already looked quite good. Still, it was a technical mess with tons of crashing issues and was only available on the Microsoft Store. That said, Gears of War: Reloaded has some updated system requirements, which better reflect today’s PC hardware.

The requirements aren’t exactly super detailed, but it’s what you would expect from a remaster in 2025. On the recommended side, you’ll need something like an RTX 2070, presumably for 4K, paired with a Ryzen CPU with six cores. The developers haven’t specified which CPU, but it’s just any generic Ryzen 5 processor.
On the lower side, you need something like an RX 5300 paired with a generic Ryzen 3 CPU. Since the Ultimate Edition is from 2016, I doubt you’ll have a poor experience with an RX 480, especially at 1080p.
8 GB of RAM is recommended either way, and you need 70 GB of free space to install Gears of War: Reloaded on PC. I’m assuming the increased size is due to improved textures, especially when playing in 4K. While an SSD isn’t listed as a requirement, I’m going to bet it’s essential if you want improved load times.
Gears of War Reloaded Pricing and Release Date
Gears of War: Reloaded releases on August 26, 2025, for $39.99 SRP on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation 5, and Steam. It’s also coming day one to Xbox Game Pass, and if you already own Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, you will receive Gears of War: Reloaded for free.
You can expect plenty of neat features bundled into this release, including crossplay for its campaign and multiplayer modes.
