With Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice scheduled to release on March 22, many gamers have found themselves wondering multiplayer will be included. Unlike other FromSoftware games, like the Dark Souls series, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice boasts more of a solitary vibe.

Based on the information currently available, it has been confirmed that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will not offer multiplayer at release. This comes in stark contrast to the Souls games which offered select co-op options, and the ability to help other players out.

Of course, using the Souls games as a point of reference, it’s possible that a multiplayer component will be added to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in the future as DLC. Until something like this is confirmed and announced, gamers will have to enjoy Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in single-player format.

This “single-player only” idea has been further emphasized in a statement made to GameSpot by FromSoftware’s Yasuhiro Kitao, who noted:

“This title is designed, from the beginning, to be a single-player experience. As a part of that, one of the focuses of the game is, instead of having a choice between various classes from the beginning, you must play as a ninja. As a result, [the team] has really been able to focus in on what those mechanics are and make them as deep as possible.”

Keeping all of these things in mind, it’s safe to say that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will not have multiplayer and will not offer online components. Instead, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has been designed by FromSoftware to offer a rich, single-player experience.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is scheduled to release on March 22, 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC.
