Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 | What Are Melee Weapons In Fortnite?

In Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8, there are a few punchcard quests that task players with using a melee weapon, which has naturally brought up the question of what melee weapons are in Fortnite.

To help make things as easy as possible, we’ve put together a quick guide on what melee weapons are in Fortnite and how to use them.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 | What Are Melee Weapons In Fortnite? 

To start, the only melee weapon available in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 (at least right now) is your pickaxe. You start with this tool at the beginning of a match and can use it to gather resources like wood and metal.

You can also use it to damage other players and wildlife. For the quest that tasks you with damaging wildlife using a melee weapon, all you need to do is use your pickaxe and swing at wildlife in the game. 

For this, we recommend going after slightly more docile creatures like chickens or boars as you can easily be overpowered by some of the game’s other set of creatures like wolves and raptors if you aren’t properly prepared.

Alternatively, a slightly more difficult quest that requires a melee weapon is the quest that tasks you with eliminating Cube Monsters in the Sideways with a melee weapon. Again, the only melee weapon in the game right now is the pickaxe.

Because of this, we recommend preparing ahead of time with full health and shields, items to restore health and shields, and weapons in case you get swarmed by Cube Monsters and need to pick a few of them off before switching back to your pickaxe.

And for those wondering, in the past there have been melee weapons in Fortnite other than the pickaxe. Because of this, we’re curious to see whether new melee weapons will be added to the game during Season 8, or in the future with Season 9.

It’s not impossible for this to happen as there have been melee weapons added to Fortnite before. For example, a few seasons back, we had the temporary addition of lightsabers as a melee weapon, so in terms of melee weapons being added nothing is off the table.

Unfortunately, if you’re looking to complete these quests right now, the pickaxe is your only melee weapon option. We hope this helps!
