Week 4 Quests are out in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 and that means players have access to a whole new set of seasonal challenges. One of the more frustrating tasks this week will certainly be opening a lock with a key and a safe within the same match.
Completing the challenge sounds easy on paper, but you’ll need the right RNG for the pieces to start falling into place. Without a key or a good safe location, you’re essentially out of luck and will need to restart. This guide will go over where to find a safe in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 and how to open a lock with a key.
Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 – Where to Find a Safe and a Lock
There have been safes in Fortnite for a long time; at least as long as Gold Bars have existed in the game. They take longer to open than nearly any other container but they usually net you around 150 Gold Bars at a time. Sometimes their spawns can be random like a normal chest, but the same locations have multiple chances for a safe. Some areas on the map in Chapter 3 Season 4 even have a fixed spawn. Below you can find the top five locations for finding a safe on the map.
- Tilted Towers – 12 Safes
- Rave Cave – 10 Safes
- Chrome Crossroads – 9 Safes
- Lustrous Lagoon – 7 Safes
- Shimmering Shrine – 6 Safes
Many of the other locations on the map will have some spawns, but they will be harder to find in general. Vaults themselves can also contain a safe and you can save some time on the quest by going to the right Vault. One, in particular, is located directly west of Rocky Reels and is on one of the floating platforms.

To enter this Vault, you’ll need two keys which can be found as ground loot, in chests, or from other players. Once you have two, make your way to this Vault and open the locks. You’ll complete the lock part of the Week 4 Quest and then you can promptly open the safe in the corner. This will get you one step closer to completing every quest in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4.
