FFXIV Island Sanctuary 6.3: All Rare Animals and How to Find Them

Your guide to the most exclusive farm.

by Matt Vatankhah

Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.2 introduced the Island Sanctuary, a highly-anticipated feature that allows each Warrior of Light to take a break from saving the world and relax on their own private islands. Though it’s more of a second job, honestly, as you’ll be tasked with gathering materials, crafting tools, constructing workshops, harvesting crops, and capturing wild animals as you transform your isle into a fully-functional production center. Amongst the wildlife that roam the isle are more rare and exclusive animals that you’ll have to have a little patience and knowledge in order to capture. In this guide, we’ll go over all the rare animals and exactly how to find them in Final Fantasy XIV Island Sanctuary patch 6.3.

In order to capture an animal in Island Sanctuary, you’ll need the correct restraint depending on its size.

  • For Small animals, craft the Makeshift Net:
    • 1 Island Branch
    • 2 Island Vine
  • For Medium animals, craft the Makeshift Restraint:
    • (Requires Rank 6)
    • 3 Island Hemp

  • For Large animals, craft the Makeshift Soporific:
    • (Requires Rank 8)
    • 2 Island Laver

Once a capturing device is crafted, you can equip it by switching to Capture Mode.
