FF7 Remake | How to Upgrade to PS5 Intergrade

How to upgrade FF7 Remake to the PS5 version, and how to play FF7R EPISODE INTERmission.

With the release of FF7 Remake Intergrade on June 10 comes the inevitable question of how to upgrade FF7 Remake on PS4 to Intergrade on PS5. Depending on the version of the game you own, and the version of PS5 you own, this process could either be easy or a real pain.

To help make things as easy as possible, we’ve put together a quick guide that runs through everything you need to know in order to upgrade your copy of FF7 Remake for PS4 to Intergrade on PS5.

FF7 Remake | How to Upgrade to PS5 Intergrade

FF7 Remake Intergrade is scheduled to release on June 10. Upon release, gamers who own the PS4 version of FF7 Remake should be able to upgrade to the PS5 version. The new story chapter featuring Yuffie should also be available, though this may require a separate purchase.

For example, PS5 upgrade aside, you’ll need to purchase FF7R EPISODE INTERmission from the PlayStation Store for $19.99 (USD) to play through Yuffie’s chapter.

Note that if you purchase FF7 Remake Intergrade on PS5 though, FF7R EPISODE INTERmission should come bundled together with it (in which case you won’t need to worry about purchasing the chapter separately).

“The new episode featuring Yuffie can only be played by either purchasing Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on PlayStation 5, or by purchasing it separately after completing the free PlayStation 5 enhancement upgrade,” explains an FAQ page from Square Enix

Once you have FF7R EPISODE INTERmission all squared away, you should be able to play it by launching the PS5 version of FF7 Remake Intergrade and selecting the episode from the Main Menu.

This brings us back to the main step, which is upgrading FF7 Remake to the PS5 version. Now, as far as upgrading from the PS4 version to the PS5 version goes, this depends on a few different factors.

First, you’ll obviously need to own a PS5 if you’re looking to upgrade to the PS5 version. Second, you’ll need to own the PS4 version of FF7 Remake – you won’t be able to upgrade the PS4 version of FF7 Remake acquired through PS Plus!

You also won’t be able to upgrade the PS4 version of FF7 Remake if you own a physical copy, but have the all-digital PS5, as you won’t be able to insert the disc as required.

If you do own the physical version and have a PS5 with a disc drive, all you need to do is insert the disc, visit the FF7 Remake Intergrade page on the PlayStation Store, and begin the free upgrade process

Alternatively, if you purchased the PS4 version of FF7 Remake digitally, all you need to do is navigate over to the PlayStation Store and look up FF7 Remake Intergrade. From there, you should be able to directly download FF7 Remake Intergrade without issue.

We hope this helps! Be sure to check back in with us here at Prima Games as we’ll likely have other FF7 Remake Intergrade guides up on the site for you following its release on June 10.
