Where to find Dung Eater

Elden Ring: Where to Find Dung Eater

Elden Ring is filled with characters that all have their own motivations and reasons for interacting with the player character. One of these NPCs, The Lonesome Dung Eater, is introduced in the opening cinematic, but it isn’t until much later that you’ll actually find him.

The first time you will run into the Dung Eater will be in the Roundtable Hold, after progressing the main story and defeating the NPC invasion that takes place there, Rodrieka, the Spirit Tuner will tell you that she feels a bad presence on the other side of the Roundtable.

Head towards the Twin Husks statue on the other side of the Roundtable Hold and the doors next to them will be open. The Lonesome Dung Eater will be sitting on the floor in a room covered with stacked books. He will be highlighted red like an invader, but is not hostile.

Talk to him, but ultimately he will tell you to leave him alone. After making your way to the Royal City in the Atlus Plateau you’ll be able to find a key item titled “Seedbed Curse.” This can be found in a few different spots. The easiest one to grab is right near the East Capital Ramparts Site of Grace.

Follow the path alongside the wall and once you get inside the large building take the ladder up the right side to find it on the body sitting in a chair.

Now, bring back the Seedbed Curse to the Dung Eater inside the Roundtable Hold and he will give you the Sewer-Gaol key. He will mention his body is locked in the sewers below the Capital City.

To find the entrance to the sewers you’ll need to go to the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace. Go down the large staircase and take a hard left turn, jump over the railing onto the rooftops below. Now take a right off the rooftop onto the ground below. Hit forward and you’ll find a well sitting right past some rubble.

Take the ladder into the well, but be careful of the attacking creatures surrounding it. This will now take you to a much larger sewer area, the Dung Eater is in this area, but you’ll need to progress a little bit further.

Once hitting the bottom of the ladder take a hard left through the iron gate and take another ladder down the edge. Follow the water-soaked path and you’ll see the location name “Subterranean Shunning-Grounds” pop up, this is how you’ll know you’re on the right track.

Run past the rats lurking about, go through the door, take another left, and head down the ladder. Keep an eye on the left-hand side for a Site of Grace which will keep you from having to retread some ground in case you die.

Keep trucking along down the giant archways and be careful of the two lurking ogres. They can do some serious damage so running past them is advised. Keep going until you reach the end of the hallway and you’ll notice one of the sewer grates on the floor is missing. Drop down and head past the rats and poisonous plants until you reach the ladder at the far end.

From here you’re almost there. Now just follow the path until you see a jail cell with the Dung Eater bashing its head against the wall.

If you have the Sewer-Gaol key you’ll be able to open up the cell and progress the storyline.
