EA Sports PGA Tour: How to Use New Putting Camera

Use the new zoom-in camera to your advantage when playing the short game.

The Season 6—Patch Notes 7 update added many new features to EA Sports PGA Tour. One of the most significant improvements made to the gameplay with this update is the zoom-in option when playing the short game. EA implemented a new way to read the greens in an attempt to make putting a bit easier. In this guide, I’ll be helping players use the new zoom-in function while putting for an eagle or birdie.

How to Use New Putting Camera Properly in EA Sports PGA Tour

To use the new zoom-in camera on the greens for putting, you must ensure you use the pre-address buttons in the pre-address stance. To ensure you are in the pre-stance, press circle to reset your golfer and shot while standing at the ball. You’ll find all the pre-address and address options and buttons in the bottom-left corner of your screen.

Once in the pre-stance, press the triangle button to use the zoom-in function. The camera angle will automatically change to an aerial view of the greens. Press L3 twice (left analog stick) to change the camera until the camera view is level with the playing surface. Now you can move the camera view in any direction by moving the left stick (LS). This way, you’ll be able to see exactly how steep the slope is and get a perfect read of the direction the ball will roll.

The new zoom-in function can be used anytime when you are on the greens or close to the greens. Using it for long shots will not benefit you in any way, so you don’t have to use it in long ball-hitting situations.

Read the Green When Zoomed In

Reading the greens is one of the hardest parts of the short game. When looking from an aerial view, it’s easy to get confused with the direction of the slope. Now that you are level with the playing field and can zoom in until the cup, it’s easier to make adjustments. Yes, it’s not exactly fail-safe, but at least now you’ll be able to get closer to the cup and not overshoot your shot.

This gameplay feature is a game changer and an update that improves your ability to putt the ball. It will take a little getting used to, but it will definitely benefit you in the long run and in the short game. If players fail with their approach shots and land further than they would like to from the cup, the zoom-in function can help with easier recovery putts.
