Is EA Sports PGA Tour Performance Mode Available on PS5 & Xbox Series X|S?

As of now, yes, EA Sports PGA Tour supports 60FPS Performance Mode on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The talks of adding the feature have been a long-standing promise, but EA has finally delivered on that promise.

In-game, 30FPS is now referred to as Quality Mode, while 60FPS is regarded as Performance Mode. Both modes have their pros and cons, and it will be up to the player to decide what they prefer and what’s visually more pleasing to them.

How to Change From 30FPS to 60FPS on Road to the Masters

To change from Quality Mode to Performance Mode in EA Sports PGA Tour, you need to go to settings on the main home screen menu, wait for the next list of options to open, and then select Visual. After selecting Visual, scroll down to the Visual Quality option. On the right of the screen, you’ll find a description of what each mode offers and how it improves your gameplay experience.

Top Tip: If you want to see what’s the difference between the two modes, leave the settings as is, enter a game mode, and change between 30FPS Quality Mode and 60FPS Performance Mode there instead. If you’re not happy, it will change back to the previous settings with no hassles. If you are happy with the visual improvements made in the recently added mod, you can finish your game of golf and change the settings permanently after testing the two.

Bug Fixes Included with Patch Note 4.5

To make sure the game continues to deliver a quality gameplay experience, EA jumped on some pressing issues before the game’s next major update. In this update, there have been a number of improvements made, such as to the gameplay, golf courses, branding, and more.

Table of Contents

Gameplay

  • The issue of “Round Settings” has been added to the scorecard screen. Settings such as wind speed and course conditions can be referenced in gameplay (thank the golfing gods).

Courses

Certain courses’ visual issues have been addressed. Most of these issues that have been looked at by EA are problems picked up in the flyovers of the courses. Here is a list of the golf courses that have been improved:

  • Global: EA reduced the popping of bushes and tall grass during hole flyovers on a number of courses.
  • Banff Springs: The shadow popping during hole flyovers has been reduced,
  • LACC: Add grandstand behind hole 2 green and remove grandstand behind hole 11 green.
  • LACC: Fixed the missing stairs on the greenside grandstand at hole 14. EA has removed green awnings from the clubhouse and all visible mow lines, as well as the flags not reacting to the wind direction. Lastly, they fixed the tree branches clipping through the concrete pillar underneath the bridge at hole 9, replaced USGA tee markers with U.S. Open tee markers, and
  • Oak Hill: Fixes to shadow popping in bunkers were carried out.

Golfers

Only one golfer has been updated in the game.

  • Update Jessika Korda’s round 2 and 3 outfits.

Branding

Branding for the US Open is still being added to the game.

  • Fixed the “Dominican Open” tournament in Career mode showing “The Players” branding,
  • Update the logo on U.S. Open ball marker to be more clearly visible,
  • They updated the caddie bibs to use the latest U.S. Open logo, and
  • They updated images in the store on some gear to use the latest U.S. Open logo.

UI

What’s a Patch Note update without any UI improvements?

  • The event info screen now displays Gameplay Style and Swing Mechanics for the upcoming round (I’m excited to check this one out),
  • Selection issues experienced with equipment have been addressed, and
  • Fixes for the “Quest Complete” popup showing unlocalized text for items.

General Stability

Stability, crashes, and softlock issues have been seen to and will be continuously looked at.

  • Fixed a number of crashes and softlocks issues related to network disconnects in a variety of areas of the game,
  • Improvements were made to crash reporting metrics, and
  • Additional crash and stability-related fixes were carried out.

Misc

Last but not least, the last fixes that were included were Improvements made to the Misc.

  • Visual improvements to some hairstyles, fixing instances where the lighting was unintentionally reflecting off head texture, which caused the hair to look thinner than intended,
  • Fixed the rare occurrences where button spamming after restarting a match or requesting an unplayable lie would cause the golfer to move to an incorrect location on the course.

Another update that sees EA score way under par. An already impressive virtual golf game just got more impressive. To learn how to change your Swing Mechanics in Road to the Masters, you can read: How to Change a Golfer’s Swing Mechanics in EA Sports PGA Tour.
