Dynasty Warriors: Origins is now available on PC and consoles ahead of its main release for users who purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition. KOEI TECMO has done a great job with the PC version, which runs quite well on a variety of hardware configurations including the Steam Deck. It has a rich settings menu with plenty to adjust, and support for multiple Steam features as well. However, if you’re looking to back up your local progress, here is the save file location for Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Dynasty Warriors Origins Save File Location

SteamC:\Users\[WINDOWS USERNAME]\My Documents\KoeiTecmo\DYNASTY WARRIORS ORIGINS\Saved\SaveGames\

The save files are located inside a folder with your unique Steam numeric ID within the SaveGames folder in the location above. The save file is in the .dat format, and we recommend backing up the entire DYNASTY WARRIORS ORIGINS folder so you don’t lose your configuration file either.

You can access the same location through a shortcut by pasting the following in Windows Run (Windows + R key):

%USERPROFILE%/My Documents/KoeiTecmo/DYNASTY WARRIORS ORIGINS/Saved/SaveGames

At the moment, Dynasty Warriors: Origins is only available on the Steam store, so the save files will only be available at the location shared above. The “KoeiTecmo” folder includes dedicated folders for other titles published by KOEI TECMO including the Atelier and Nioh series.

Dynasty Warriors Origins Steam Cloud Support

While local save files are generated for the full release, Dynasty Warriors: Origins also has support for Steam Cloud, so all your local files are uploaded to the Steam servers when you close the title. The files are barely more than a few MBs, so we recommend keeping this setting on, especially if you’re playing on more than one device, like the Steam Deck.

In addition to Steam Cloud, Dynasty Warriors: Origins comes with support for the following features on Steam as well:

  • Family Sharing
  • Steam Achievements
  • Full Controller Support
  • Steam Trading Cards

Overall, Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a solid release on PC, and we’re glad to see KOEI TECMO put more effort into their PC releases. It also has support for ultrawide monitors, which is always a plus. Sadly, there are a few issues, like UI and text elements appearing blurry at resolutions higher than 1080p. We hope that these minor issues will be addressed in a patch soon!
