You get a quest from one of the Officers to perform a Battle Art Chain early on in Dynasty Warriors Origins. However, the method to perform a Battle Art Chain isn’t clear, so we’ll tell you everything you need to know about this mechanic.
What is Battle Art Chain
A Battle Art Chain is when your Companion performs a follow-up attack with you after you perform a Battle Art and chains their own Battle Art with you. It’s not a skill you can learn or perform alone without any Companions. You also get a training objective from Gan Ning to Activate 1 Battle Art Chain.
How to perform Battle Art Chain
First of all, you need to enter a battle with a Companion selected. You can only switch characters during story missions early on, so enter a mission where you have a Companion to support you in combat.
Once you’ve started the battle, you need to build up your Companion’s chain meter by inspiring them. This can be done by performing various actions such as parries, perfect dodges, and defeating enemy commanders. The more efficient you are in combat, the quicker the Battle Art Chain can be performed. Once you’ve dominated the battlefield enough, you’ll see a blue link between you and your Companion, and your skills will begin to glow blue on the bottom right.
Now when you perform a skill while your Companion is in range and the blue chain link is active, your companion will follow up with a Battle Art Chain whenever you activate one of your Battle Arts. Companions are mighty allies and their Chain Attack will allow you to stagger enemy officers with ease.
Note that you’ll also get the option for an Extreme Mussou Attack here that combines both your and your companion’s Mussou Attacks, but this means you can’t perform the Battle Art Chain, so don’t accidentally use it if you’re trying to complete Gan Ning’s training.
