It also has all the nifty support features you want to see, including cloud saves. That said, if you don’t trust the digital gods to protect your data, here is the save file location for Doom: The Dark Ages.

Just like Doom: Eternal, the save files for Doom: The Dark Ages are found in the main Steam folder. 3017860 represents the unique Steam ID for Doom: The Dark Ages, and inside it, you’ll find a remote folder with folders for individual in-game profiles. If you want to back up the files, I recommend making a copy of the entire 3017860 folder.

Similarly, if you purchased the game on the Windows Store, you can find it in the Saved Games folder in the Windows user folder.

Doom The Dark Ages Total Save Slots

Since Doom: The Dark Ages has several difficulty levels for players to try out, id Software has given players three save slots for multiple campaigns. The slot also mentions which difficulty it’s on, similar to Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal.

Doom The Dark Ages Steam Features

Outside of support for Steam Cloud, Doom: The Dark Ages makes good use of Steam’s utilities and features. Here is everything you can expect from the Steam release of Doom: The Dark Ages, whether you’re playing now or on May 15, 2025:

  • Steam Family Share: Members in your Steam family can access the title in their library.
  • Achievements: Doom: The Dark Ages has 28 achievements to unlock.
  • Steam trading cards: As you play, you’ll earn Steam trading cards, which you can sell on the market or purchase to craft badges.
  • Steam Input: While the game has solid controller support, you can use Steam Input to plug in a controller that isn’t natively supported by the game.

id Software has blessed us with yet another solid Doom title that pits the Doom Slayer against hordes of demonic foes. It’s a great experience, whatever platform you’re playing on, and one of the most technically impressive games of the year.

When he isn't spending an unhealthy amount of time in Slay the Spire, he's probably trying out yet another retro-shooter or playing Dark Souls for the 50th time.
