Does Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream Have Crossplay Support?

Yes, Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream has crossplay support, which was officially confirmed in the reveal trailer and by the development team.

Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream Crossplay Confirmation

The developers have confirmed in their CBT report that cross-platform play will be supported at launch since the team will be using their servers to compensate for multiple players from different regions and platforms. Here are the relevant quotes from the team about crossplay:

Going forward, as SWORD ART ONLINE Fractured Daydream will be cross-platform compatible, we hope that players can enjoy co-op action together around the globe!

Before starting the development for SWORD ART Online Fractured Daydream, Bandai Namco Entertainment asked us if we could make a game that ‘can be played co-op with many players, just like in the original anime’. To achieve that, we needed to have our own servers. So, we created the servers and ran some technical tests to accommodate a large number of players. It was only after we verified that everything was working correctly, that we started working on the development of the title.

Players can team up with 20 players from around the world in 1 of 5 parties comprised of 4 players each for multiplayer co-op. The developers also confirmed that there will be no lootboxes in the game, which is always great to hear.

Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream Release Date

Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and CP on October 4, 2024.

We’re glad to see official confirmation from the developers about crossplay support and hope it’s implemented well. This is shaping up to be one of the more involved multiplayer experiences in the series
