Does Splitgate 2 Have a Single-Player Campaign? – Answered

Cool cinematic!

Splitgate 2 is the sequel to the portal-themed first-person shooter from 1047 Games that aims to build on the ideas of the original release at a much larger scale. This means that this time around, there are actual characters and worldbuilding that make the world of Splitgate into a believable setting. However, with the inclusion of all this, does Splitgate 2 have a single-player campaign? Here’s what you need to know.

Does Splitgate 2 Have a Single-Player Campaign?

Despite the “Singleplayer” tag on Steam, Splitgate 2 does not have a campaign.

This was confirmed on the official Splitgate 2 FAQ of the title. Here is the relevant question directly answered by the team.

COOL TRAILER! DOES THIS MEAN SPLITGATE 2 WILL HAVE A SINGLE-PLAYER CAMPAIGN?
Splitgate 2 will not have a single-player or any campaign at the time of its release. That doesn’t mean you won’t have ways to engage in stories that take place in the Splitgate universe. In fact, you can download the free Splitgate 2 Companion App right now on iOS and Android and read some comic books that reveal some of the characters and locations in the new game.

The companion app gives a first look at the world of Splitgate 2 with comic books, collectible cards, and a deeper look at the available factions.

Apart from that, CEO of 1047 Games, Ian Proulx, confirmed in a PlayStation Blogpost that the team hired a narrative designer to create the universe for Splitgate even though it doesn’t have a traditional campaign, and it’s still a strictly multiplayer title.

Splitgate 2 is clearly a step up in production values, and its announcement came with a cinematic trailer that showcased characters, the overall aesthetic, and parts of the world they’re creating to build the multiplayer element around.

Splitgate 2 is coming to PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PS4, and the PS5 next year in 2025. Even though it doesn’t have a campaign, at least it has crossplay support.
