Schedule 1 is a massive hit on Steam, and its concurrent player count is only rising. This part GTA-clone, part drug-sim is simple, addictive, and a lot of fun. Since it is currently only available on PC, most players are using a keyboard and mouse.
But does Schedule 1 have controller support? Here is everything you need to know.
Does Schedule 1 Have Controller Support?
No, Schedule 1 does not currently have controller support in its early access state.
This means that you can only play it using a keyboard and mouse by default. However, that’s where Steam Input comes in.
How To Use a Controller With Schedule 1
Even though Schedule 1 doesn’t have official controller support, you can always use Steam Input to convert its keyboard and mouse controls to a controller using a community layout. This is a bit janky and will take some getting used to, but if you really want to use a controller, it’s definitely worth it.
Here is how you can use Steam Input to use a controller with Schedule 1.
- Make sure Schedule 1 isn’t currently running.
- Open your Steam library and right-click on Schedule 1
- Select Properties
- Now, in the Controller tab, select Enable Steam Input under Override for Schedule 1

- After that, click on Controller Configurator in the same tab.

- This will open the Steam Input configuration window. Here, you want to click on Browse Community Layouts.

- Now, select the Keyboard (WASD) and Mouse template option.

- This should automatically load the “Hallway Crooks” community layout, but if it doesn’t, you can switch to the Community Layouts tab and select the top template (the one with the most likes). You can try other ones if you like, but this one is pretty good.

- Hit Apply Layout at the bottom right.
With the template applied, launch Schedule 1, and your right stick should act as a mouse. Again, this will take some time to get used to, but every important button has been mapped to the controller.
Is Official Controller Support Planned for Schedule 1?
Yes, the developers have confirmed on their official Trello roadmap that controller support is planned. It’s part of the “Smaller Additions / Improvements” column, along with several other features.

In addition to controller support, the developers are also working on Steam Deck support and in-game voice chat.
We hope that controller support is something that the developers are prioritizing for Schedule 1. The community layout works well enough and is the best way to use a controller until official support is added.
