Path of Exile 2 gears up for a massive content update in patch 0.2.0 coming this March 2025. However, many wonder whether we’ll see an economy reset, similar to other leagues in Path of Exile 1.
According to GGG, there will be an economy reset for the 0.2.0 patch, but how will it work if it is still in early access?
How Will the Reset Work in Path of Exile 2’s 0.2.0 Patch?

An economy reset will happen in Path of Exile 2’s 0.2.0 patch, wiping all stashes and player progression. Everyone will start from scratch and all previous characters and items will move to the “standard” league, similar to how it worked with Path of Exile 1 when they introduced a new league.
Since Path of Exile 2 is in early access and its first early access launch only had the “standard” league, they’ll fix those immediately and develop a new name or league for patch 0.2.0.
When the 0.2.0 patch comes out, everyone will start creating a new character and start again from the beginning of the campaign. Even if they don’t have Acts 4 to 6 ready, they won’t allow anyone to skip the campaign, similar to how it worked in Path of Exile 1.
How an Economy Reset Helps Path of Exile 2

An economy reset should help Path of Exile 2 keep the game fresh since players won’t be able to stockpile currency to buy whatever new comes out.
Apart from all the new items, it also allows the developers to get data on whether a newly introduced item has a decent enough drop chance and rearrange loot tables accordingly.
The economy reset not only helps the economy but also avoids problems from any changes to the atlas passives and passive skills if they are tweaked. Since there could be balance changes on the way, players might get forced to switch in and out of certain paths, and if they don’t have enough currency to change, it might force them to create a new character with a “dead economy” if it isn’t reset.
