Differences Between Online vs Offline in Last Epoch

What's the difference?

When you boot up Last Epoch, you’re greeted with a login screen that asks you to select a region and chat language and requests you pick either online or offline mode. Here are the key differences between online and offline in Last Epoch.

Key Differences Between Online vs Offline in Last Epoch

You don’t have to think too long and hard about which mode to select as they’re functionally similar with a few key differences. First and foremost, if you play Last Epoch offline, you can save your character and progress locally. That way, if you ever lose connection to the internet, you can still boot up your Void Knight and finish the campaign.

Conversely, if you play online, your character and progress will be saved to the servers, and you can access the game’s multiplayer features. This includes the in-game store, the trading system, and interacting with other players via chat or grouping up to play the game in co-op.

Should You Play Online in Last Epoch?

Right now, so long as your internet can connect and remain connected to the game’s servers, I recommend enjoying the online component. It’s the best way to interact with the enthusiastic community, discuss builds and items, and meet potential new friends you may group up with to level and quest alongside.

Seriously, I can’t recommend the chat enough. Unlike many other online communities, the Last Epoch chat channels seem genuinely helpful and eager to enjoy the game instead of arguing with each other or complaining about the mechanics they hate. It’s refreshing, and you may learn a bit more about the game from the community.

With the 1.0 release, Last Epoch will also feature a trade mechanic known as the Trading Post, allowing players in the online mode to swap gear. This mechanic will not be available in the offline mode, though.

If you can’t get enough of the Action-RPG genre, you’re not alone. Secondly, you might want to explore making your own build in Diablo 4 to help mix things up a bit.
