Next week, Diablo 4 is celebrating the Lunar New Year with a new event that’ll be hitting both Seasonal and Eternal Realms. Here’s what’s coming in the Lunar Awakening event and when.
Diablo 4 Lunar Awakening Event Details
The Lunar Awakening begins on February 6 at 10 am PST and runs until February 20. The actual “event” part of the event takes the form of Lunar Shrines that can appear in any area, from Nightmare Dungeons to the open world. These shrines activate a 50% experience boost and grant 30% increased movement speed. You can see what these dragon-esque shrines look like below:
These shrines don’t just grant buffs, they also give you Ancestors Favor reputation. Over in Ked Bardu, you’ll meet a new merchant NPC named Ying-Yue. He’ll sell you cosmetics in exchange for your Ancestor’s Favor Reputation (seen at the top of the page).
If you want to grind Ancestor’s Favor a little more efficiently, you can also keep an eye out for a limited-time Nightmare Dungeon affix called Ancestor’s Favor, which guarantees that all shrines in the dungeon will be replaced with Lunar Shrines. Additionally, the Ancestor’s Favor affix grants an additional 10% Glyph XP on dungeon completion. It’s also confirmed that the affix won’t vanish from Sigils after the event ends, so you can hoard them for later.
Nightmare Dungeons aren’t the only activity getting a Lunar boost – the Tree of Whispers will also feature themed bounties to help you earn even more Ancestors Favor rep.
All Lunar Shrine Effects
Courtesy of Blizzard’s blog post, here are all the effects of Lunar Shrines during the event:
- Artillery Shrine – Casts have a chance to summon a holy bomb.
- Blast Wave Shrine – Each explosion summons a cluster bombardment.
- Channeling Shrine- Increased attack speed and chance to reset cooldowns.
- Conduit Shrine – Summon frequent, powerful, shocking strikes.
- Greed Shrine – Chance to summon a Treasure Goblin. While the Shrine is active, 25 kills summons a Treasure Goblin, and 50 kills summons a second.
- Lethal Shrine – Chance to instantly execute a struck monster, causing Fear on surrounding monsters. Note: this includes Elites, but excludes Bosses and other Players.
- Protection Shrine – You reflect all incoming damage. Damage reflected scales with Level and World Tier.
