Destiny: The Taken King – Your Guide to Armsday

Visit Banshee-44 every Wednesday to take part in Armsday.
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Welcome, Guardian! This Prima feature serves as your guide to Armsday in Bungie’s new expansion, Destiny: The Taken King. In addition to discussing field-testing, we’ll also tell you why it’s important to earn Gunsmith reputation with Banshee-44. It’s in start contrast to Destiny before Update 2.0, since the Gunsmith was mostly unimportant. Now he’s one of the most important characters in The Taken King. In fact, you’ll wind up visiting this guy every week, and we’ll tell you why below.

Remember, Armsday kicks off every Wednesday and you have an entire week to complete Banshee-44’s field tests. The best part? There are new weapons every week with unique challenges to beat.

What is Armsday in Destiny?

On Armsday, Banshee-44 has new weapons for you to try. Head to the Tower and pay him a visit. Examine each weapon and take as many as you want. Each one is a bounty of sorts, just with a different character.

After choosing a weapon, equip this instrument of death as your primary, special or heavy. Highlight this weapon and make note of the objective. This may involve slaughtering fellow Guardians in the Crucible or scoring precision kills on the different enemies you encounter while enjoying some PvE.

Thankfully, field-testing Banshee-44’s weapons won’t consume space in your Quest section. Not only do you view the objective by highlighting the weapon, but also progression, which is convenient.

When you meet the necessary requirements for these weapons, you’re free to keep it equipped during the week it’s available or dismantle it for parts. Even better, you receive Gunsmith reputation automatically, so there’s no need to return to Banshee-44 to collect the reward, unlick the Cryptarch.

What is Gunsmith Reputation?

You earn Gunsmith rep for competing weapon field-testing. Then you’re able to level up this reputation for rewards. Reasons for leveling up are somewhat of a mystery, but think you’ll be able to buy legendary weapons after reaching a specific rank. With the new Destiny loot system in place, there’s a much better chance of getting new weapons instead of the same guns and rocket launchers. Everything will be made clear once The Taken King releases on September 15. If anything, make sure you finish every task for each week of weapon testing, since it will probably yield new opportunities to buy cool stuff at Rank 4.

Furthermore, do field testing with each created character, provide you play with more than one. Weapons can b shared, after all.

We’ll have plenty more on Armsday and weapon testing after Activision unleashes The Taken King.
