Destiny: The Taken King – How to Get the Wormsinger and Wormfeeder Runes

Learn how to find and use the Wormsinger and Wormfeeder Runes in Destiny.
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

This Destiny: The Taken King feature will tell you how to find and then use the Wormsinger and Wormfeeder Runes in Bungie’s expansion. In order to receive these items you must complete events on the Dreadnaught ship, and while having a skilled fire team will make things easier, it is possible to do everything solo.

Wormsinger Runes

In order to obtain the Wormsinger Rune, you must kill Hive Wizards and Hive Knights while aboard the Dreadnaught, which is tricky since these specific enemies may be tough to find. We suggest going on patrol and spending time in the Court of Oryx in the hope of scoring a desired drop. Additionally, head to the Hull Breach area of the Dreadnaught (a place you probably visited while searching for Calcified Fragments), and if by chance you see Guardians battling Blahgrish, a Hive Ogre, join the fight for the chance the brute will drop a Wormsinger Rune.

After picking up a Wormsinger Rune, head to the Hull Breach area, then go left. Approach the busted beams and pipes stuck in the ground, then fall off the edge. When your feet touch solid ground, turn around and you’ll see the entrance to a cave. Go inside, stick to the right wall and you will discover a piece of equipment to insert the Wormsinger Rune.

There is a second place to use a Wormsinger Rune, which is near the Hull Breach. When you’re on the Dreadnaught, proceed forward until you arrive at the path leading to the Mausoleum.  Pan the camera right and you’ll see a cave. Head in there and go left (you’ll travel through a hole in the wall). Keep right and there’s another device that lets you use Wormsinger Runes.

Leave the cave you entered and there should be the following message: the Hive summon a stalking party. Quickly approach the entrance to the crashed Cabal spaceship at Hull Breach and prepare to throw down with a bunch of enemies. While fighting for your life, be on the lookout for yet another message that says, the Hive summon their Champion. The creature it refers to is the aforementioned Blahgrish. Slaughter him and pick up the Wormfeeder Rune. You may also want to use a Three of Coins before starting the battle in the hope he leaves behind one or more Exotic Engrams.

Wormfeeder Runes

A Wormfeeder Rune tasks you with killing 50 aliens while exploring the Dreadnaught; dying resets your progress, so fight cautiously.  We suggest finishing the Tier 1 Court of Oryx events to do this as quickly as possible. Otherwise, hang out in Hull Breach and use a sniper rifle to safely kill enemies from range. The Mausoleum is also a good place to farm kills, but this place is more dangerous.

After slaughtering 50 bad guys the game will supply you with a random key to open a chest on the Dreadnaught. If you have difficulty, we have a feature with all of the Dreadnaught chest locations
