Destiny: The Taken King – Find Every Dreadnaught Chest

We’ll tell you where to find the Key of Eir, Key of the Spawn and more chests while aboard the Dreadnaught.

If you’ve been playing Destiny: The Taken King, you’re probably familiar with Oryx’s Dreadnaught. We’re here to provide you with the locations of each chest within the Dreadnaught. These chests require keys, which can be obtained from various events around the ship. Once you have a key, you must locate the associated chest and that’s exactly what this article is all about.

To obtain a key, first you need to get a Wormsinger Rune by killing various enemies around the Dreadnaught. Once a key drops, head to the Hull Breach and activate an event using the rune on the machines you find in the caves. This initiates a massive battle that allows you to get the Wormfeeder Rune from the dead yellow bar enemy once you emerge victorious. At this point, you must kill 50 enemies on the Dreadnaught without dying. Once this task is complete, you’ll have a random key which can be used to open one of the chests listed in this article.

Hull Breach Chests

Key of Eir Chest: Starting at the Hull Breach in Dreadnaught Patrol, go right beyond the doorway to the right. Continue forward until you can drop down to the lower level. To the right you’ll see another doorway leading to a series of corridors. Make your way through the crack in the wall, then continue forward and into the narrow corridor directly ahead. When you reach the first junction, head left and move through the corridor until you find the Key of Eir chest located to the right.

Key of Ur Chest: Starting at the Hull Breach, move toward the middle of the area in front of the Cabal ship where several broken metal rods protrude from the floor. Drop under the rods to find a doorway leading to a corridor lined with orange, glowing tanks. Head into the hallway and continue to the right to find the Key of Ur chest close to the wall.

Key of Xol Chest: Begin at the Hull Breach and head to the far right, toward the hexagonal-shaped entrance. Continue through the doorway and into the next room to find several tanks suspended on the walls. Circle around to the far side of the middle column to find the Key of Xol chest.

Mausoleum Chests

Key of Maggots Chest: Starting at the Hull Breach, move through the corridor below the Cabal ship wreckage to reach the Mausoleum. Cross over to the far side of the room to find a few doorways. Continue through the second square doorway located close to the small staircase. When you are inside, look immediately to the left and crouch into the tunnel. Continue to the left and jump up to the ledge to find the Key of Maggots chest, as well as Calcified Fragment 03.

Key of Wyrding Chest: Starting at the Mausoleum entrance under the Cabal ship, move along the right of the ship to find a doorway. In the event you’re coming from the Key of Maggots Chest, simply exit the corridor and move across the main area to the far side of the room to locate the same entrance. Continue through the short hallway, then turn left to come across the Key of Wyrding chest sitting on a pile of rubble.

Key of the Spawn Chest: Starting from the Key of Wyrding chest, go back out to the main fighting area and head right. Keep moving toward the small staircase that leads to a circular platform located in front of the chasm. Look toward the bright beam of light and call upon your Ghost to find a hidden path made of stone pieces. Jump along the hidden path as you move toward the platform to the right, and you’ll will see the Key of the Spawn chest directly ahead. Calcified Fragment 01 is also found along the right wall.

The Skyburners Security Pass Chest: Starting at the Hull Breach, move toward the Mausoleum via the passage directly under the Cabal ship. Once you enter the Mausoleum via the passage, circle around to the left, then look up toward the ship to see a window that leads into a control room just above. Jump into the control room, then look for a console nearby where you can input the Skyburners Deployment Codes. To the right of the console is a large sealed door that can be unlocked using the Skyburners Security Pass. This is the location of the chest for the Skyburners quest chain.

A Scent is the Key Chest: Starting at the Key of Wyrding chest, call your Ghost and jump back across the bridge pieces and toward the far left side of the chasm. There’s a platform across the way here, along the left wall. The Scent is the Key chest can be found on the far right side here.

Hall of Souls (Court of Oryx) Chests

Key of Gnashing Teeth Chest: Starting from the Hull Breach, turn around and continue through the long tunnel that leads into the Hall of Souls. Move across the area and toward the Court of Oryx. The Key of Gnashing Teeth chest is found on the main platform, in the center section below the portal gate.

Key of Yuul Chest:  Starting at the main middle platform where you found the Key of Gnashing Teeth chest, move around to the backside of the Court to locate a set of stone pillars inside the chasm. Calcified Fragment 13 can also be found on the first pillar. Move across the pillars to the platform on the far side, then call your Ghost to scan the chasm and find a hidden path. Move across the newly revealed bridge pieces until you reach a round platform up and to the right. This is where you can find the Key of Yuul chest, in addition to a Calcified Fragment 11.

Key of Akka Chest: From the platform where you found the Key of Yuul chest, jump back across the once hidden bridge to where you initially scanned the chasm. Face the direction of the chasm and head through the entrance to the left. Continue across the room and through a passage on the far left wall that leads into the next open area. With the Court of Oryx to your left, jump across the gap here and head into the entrance on the opposite wall. Duck down into the hole on the right, then head through the corridor. Once you exit the first corridor, the Key of Akka chest is located to the right.
