Hello, Guardian! This Prima feature will tell you how to finish the Hunter subclass quests Bungie introduced in Destiny Update 2.0, which debuted on September 8 in time for The Taken King’s September 15 release. Although these quests are available to complete right now, we strongly suggest waiting until The Taken King next week, since beating them today may result in not receiving those sweet rewards. Bookmark this page now and come back September 15.
Path of the Defender Quest
First you need to visit Zavala, the Titan Vanguard hanging out in the Hall of Guardians. Make sure you choose the Defender subclass, then get to work on the quest. Note: if you switch from Striker to Defender at the Tower, you must go to Orbit and then return to the Tower to accept this quest.
Slay Enemies: To do this, you need to kill 50 enemies within your Ward of Dawn or with a grenade and melee attack. Ward of Dawn is the fancy way to go, but it’s a better idea to rely on your grenade and melee strikes to get the job done. Begin by spawning into a patrol on Earth. This places your Guardian at the Steppes, exactly where you should be. Now sit back and prepare for some quality farming to amass the necessary amount of kills.
Create Orbs of Light: Now you must generate 25 Orbs with your Ward of Dawn; similar to doing the same thing for the Bladedancer and Gunslinger. Join a Fire team and chain super abilities like a crazy person. Plead with your teammates to rely on their supers to generate Orbs, then collect these Orbs until you can super. Do this consistently and you’ll have no trouble hitting that 25 mark.
Complete the Path: We hope you’re ready to completely upgrade the Defender subclass; in all fairness you probably did this already. In case it still needs to be done, earn the required XP. Get it from beating the story missions you’ve yet to finish, or run through Vanguard and Crucible bounties. If you have trouble earning more XP in The Taken King, we have a guide for that.
Zavala’s Challenge: Fortunately this one’s easy. In order to finish Zavala’s Challenge, you must beat one Strike, use Blessing or Weapons of Light to Ward your fire team and then achieve 30 kills. Make sure you attach Blessing of Light or Weapons of Light to your super; we opted for the latter. Pop the bubble, tell your team to walk through this and rack up the 30 kills. So long as your team does this before the Strike concludes, victory shall be yours.
Rewards: You will receive the Defender’s Mark, a cool piece of gear exclusive to Destiny: The Taken King. Again, you should wait until September 15 to make sure you get the reward.
Path of the Striker Quest
Kick things off by visiting Zavala in the Hall of Guardians. This person offers you the quest if you’re using the Striker subclass.
Slay Enemies: You must take down 50 enemies using your Guardian’s Fist of Havoc, melee attack or grenade. While Fist of Havoc is effective, you will obtain the majority of these kills using the other methods. Spawn into the Steppes on an Earth patrol and start killing fools. The lower level the enemy, the better.
Create Orbs of Light: This time, you need to rely on your Fist of Havoc to produce 25 Orbs. It’s easiest with a fire team. Make a habit of collecting each other’s Orbs and then using your super ability. We found success on the Earth Mothyards and Anchor of Light on the Moon, where enemies respawn at a nice pace.
Complete the Path: To do this you must completely upgrade the Striker subclass; there’s a good chance you did this long ago. No? Set out to earn XP as fast as possible. Complete Vanguard and Crucible bounties, then plow through story missions you’ve yet to beat. Yes, you’ll earn XP for killing enemies, but very little.
Zavala’s Challenge: Get ready, because this is the toughest challenge yet. You’ll need to finish a Strike with the Fist of Havoc in order to produce seven Orbs in a single blow three times. We suggest heading to Devil’s Lair and enter the room where the Hive and Fallen are battling each other, unaware of your presence. If that doesn’t work, use the Nexus before reaching the final boss. You’ll see a path with Vex Goblins. Hit these guys with your Fist of Havoc and tell the other members of your team to repeat this.
Reward: Do all of this and the game awards you with the Striker’s Mark. We can’t repeat this enough: wait until September 15.
Path of the Sunbreaker
Complete the Sunbreaker’s Challenge to earn the powerful Hammer of Sol!
