Destiny: The Taken King – Best Exotic Primaries to Find Before Rise of Iron

We dive into the best Exotic Primary weapons available in The Taken King.

With Rise of Iron just a few short days from release, it’s time to take a look back at the last year of Destiny’s lifespan and reminisce. Of course, while we’re taking our trip down memory lane, we’re also going to point out a few really good weapons you should try to pick up before Rise of Iron releases on September 20. This guide will list off the three best Exotic Primary Weapons to find, and why you should get them before Rise of Iron.

Zhalo Supercell

We actually already covered this weapon once in our guide featuring the best primary weapons to hold onto, but because of its exceptional perks, it is worth mentioning again in this article. The Zhalo Supercell is an auto-rifle with a very special feature. Not only does it feature the Arc element, making it one of a select few primary weapons to hold an elemental charge, but it also features the Zhalo Supercell perk, which gives the weapon a small chance to spawn a chain of lightning between enemies. This makes it exceptionally good for dealing with massive hordes of enemies, as it can obliterate groups of Thralls, Dregs, and even Vex without much of an issue. The Arc elemental charge also gives it an extra oomph in the battlefield, allowing to quickly take down the shields of Fallen Captains and other enemies.

Bad Juju

One of the very few weapons to make the jump from Year 1 to Year 2, the Bad Juju is a fully automatic pulse rifle that is absolutely brilliant at controlling crowds. This makes it a great weapon for raiding and PVP, and it is still one of the top Exotic weapon choices for players delving into both PVE and PVP events. The fully automatic perk for this weapon makes it a unique pulse rifle, and its ability to reward kills by returning ammunition directly to the magazine makes it a fantastic addition to your arsenal. Don’t miss out on this absolute beast of a gun, as it will be extremely helpful during those first Rise of Iron runs.

Red Death

While we wanted to include a Scout Rifle or Hand Cannon on this list, we’d be remiss if we didn’t cover the Red Death. This unique pulse rifle has a slow fire rate and high impact. It also has a special perk, that when unlocked, will reward the player with health regeneration after every kill. The Red Death is also another of the few weapons that made the jump from Year 1 to Year 2. The only bad thing about this pulse rifle, though, it its low stability. As a pulse rifle, players will probably expect it to handle somewhere between an auto rifle and a scout rifle. That isn’t the case, though, and it actually is the least stable pulse rifle in the game at this point in time.

Now that we’ve covered the main three weapons we wanted to cover in this article, we’d like to add an additional weapon, which we have deemed our honorary mention. We didn’t want to include this weapon in the main line-up, though, as it is a PlayStation Exclusive weapon, which means it won’t be available to everyone who reads this guide.

Jade Rabbit

The Jade Rabbit is an Exotic Scout Rifle which was introduced in Destiny: The Taken King. It is a PlayStation Exclusive weapon. This unique scout rifle features the beloved Jade Rabbit insignia, as well as several decent perks that make it one of the best Exotic Scout Rifles in the game. The Fate of All Fools perk allows you to chain body shots together to gain increased bonus damage on your next precision shot, and also returns ammunition to the mag. This makes it exceptionally useful in both PVP and PVE situations, though weapons like the Hung Jury are more favored for PVP engagements.

That’s all the weapons that we wanted to cover in this guide. There are still plenty of other Exotic Primary Weapons out there, and even though they didn’t make this list, you should still try to pick them up. We’ll be covering Destiny pretty extensively over the coming weeks as we dive into Rise of Iron, so be sure to check back often for new walkthroughs, guides, tips, and tricks. Destiny: Rise of Iron will release on September 20 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
