Destiny – Best Weapons to Keep for Rise of Iron

You’ll want these weapons to help you conquer the Devil Splicers.
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Destiny’s last expansion, The Taken King, introduced a lot of cool new weapons to the game, along with a slew of other content. But, as we head into the newest expansion, The Rise of Iron, it’s time to revisit some of our favorite weapons of the past year. In this guide we’ll showcase three of the best, must-keep primary weapons available to players Destiny: The Taken King.

The Boolean Gemini

Though this Exotic Scout Rifle might not look like much, the Boolean Gemini is a versatile addition to any Guardian’s collection. Thanks to the alternating perks found in the last tier of its upgrade tree, this Scout Rifle makes our list of must-keep primary weapons, as it will be an invaluable tool to players as they head into Rise of Iron. By swapping between the ‘One Way’ and ‘Or Another’ perks, players can enable a stacking bonus for kills, which grants them additional Agility or Armor depending on the perk that they have enabled at the time. You can easily use this to you advantage to jump between the two perks to better suit your needs at the current time.

To acquire this weapon, players will need to complete Petra Venj’s Taken War questline, and the subsequent Wolves of Mars questline that Variks provides. Complete the two questlines and hit rank Queen’s Wrath Rank 3 to receive this weapon from Petra.

Zhalo Supercell

Another Exotic Primary, the Zhalo Supercell is one of the few elemental based Primary Weapons available to Guardians in Destiny. Featuring Arc damage, this auto rifle is exceptionally power and versatile, and is great for taking out the Taken forces that were introduced in last September’s update. Of course, what really makes this weapon so amazing is its innate perk ‘Zhalo Supercell’, which gives the gun a chance to cast a chain of lightning between enemies, allowing players to quickly and easily clear them out without ever breaking a sweat. This weapon is great for clearing trash mods like Thralls, Dregs, and even for taking down the shields that cover more powerful enemies like Fallen Captains.

This weapon can only be acquired through RNG via a random drop, or by purchasing it from Xur when he carries it.

Dead Orbit Hung Jury

We’ve already covered one Scout Rifle on our list, but there is just something special about the Hung Jury and the various perks that it has to offer. When purchased from the Dead Orbit Faction, this gun carries a fearsome roll of perks including Triple Tap, Extended Mag, and Firefly. These three perks alone make the gun one of the deadliest available to Guardians for both PVP and PVE activities. Of course, you’ll have to level up your Dead Orbit Faction Reputation to get ahold of it, but that’s a small price to pay for one of the best Legendary weapons in the game.

As we stated in our opening, Destiny: The Taken King added a lot of new weapons to the mix, and these three are just some of the best available. There are still plenty of auto rifles, scout rifles, and hand cannons out there just waiting for you to acquire them before Rise of Iron drops on September 20. So stop sitting around and get to grinding. We’ll be covering Destiny quite extensively over the coming weeks, so be sure to stay tuned for detailed walkthroughs, guides, and we prepare for Destiny: Rise of Iron.
