Destiny 2 Savathun Marionettes Farm

To get the Ruinous Effigy Trace Rifle, players will need to defeat 15 Savathun Marionettes. Here's a quick way to farm the enemy.

With the Destiny 2 Beyond Light expansion only a few months away, Bungie is starting to ramp things up in the Season of Arrivals to prepare for the Darkness. In a recent update, developers finally added in the highly desirable Ruinous Effigy Trace Rifle, but to get it, players will have to complete the Missive quest. One step in particular will require them to kill 15 Savathun Marionettes, which can take a bit of time. To help you earn the rifle a bit quicker, here’s a guide on where to farm Savathun Marionettes in Destiny 2.

Where to Farm Savathun Marionettes in Destiny 2

The best place to farm Savathun Marionettes in Destiny 2 is at the Rig on Titan. There are three Contact Public Events in this area that are capable of spawning the Marionettes, which should save you a lot of time. Typically, to get a Savathun Marionette to spawn, you’ll need to defeat a miniboss in the event and then you’ll be able to defeat the Marionette. All that being said, Destiny 2 Savathun Marionettes are capable of spawning during any World Event in a Patrol Zone, so you can keep your eye out for them while you’re exploring different planets as well. However, the best way to farm them seems to be to hang out at the Rig on Titan.

Along with the Marionettes, players will also need to track down 25 Calcified Light Fragments to complete the Pendulum step of the Missive quest. These can be found by using your Ghost and following the waypoint markers on your screen. If you need help finding them, be sure to check out our Calcified Light Fragment guide.

Once players have completed the Missive quest, they’ll unlock the Ruinous Effigy Trace Rifle, which is capable of turning enemies into void spawns. Further, those voids can then be picked up and used as a weapon, so to say it’s a pretty cool gun is an understatement. Oh, and the rifle can also destroy the Savathun Eyes which have been showing up all over the place since the beginning of the season.

In addition to the new weapon, the recent 2.9.1 update for Destiny 2 also launched the Moments of Triumph 2020 event which will lead up to the new expansion. As part of the event, Bungie has decided to uncap five dungeons and allow players to farm rewards without a weekly limit. However, not everything is jolly, as three new Pyramid ships have arrived on Titan, Mercury, and Mars, likely signifying their upcoming destruction by the Darkness.

There are a lot of fun things to do in Destiny 2 right now, and with Bungie promising to support the game through 2022, there should be plenty more to come. If you need help catching up, we’ve got tons of great guides that will help you out. In the links below, you’ll find some of our more recent coverage.
