If you’ve been grinding out Exotics and Pinnacle weapons as we have, this could be the time to take a little break from that to get back to the basics. Check out our Destiny 2 Obsidian Accelerator guide to figure out how to get your hands on it, and how it can be used to upgrade your Black Armory weapons.

Destiny 2 Obsidian Accelerator Guide – How to Obtain and Use It

First, the important question: what’s an Obsidian Accelerator good for? The answer is Obsidian Radiance.

This is an item that you can get from Ada-1, the doyenne of the Black Armory, and the point of this particular Ornament is that it gives the Black Armory weapon that it’s tacked onto a damage boost if you use it in a forge.

In order for Ada-1 to hand over this useful Ornament, you have to give her an Obsidian Accelerator. Guardians wanting to equip these Ornaments do so under a weapon’s Perk tree.

Now, there’s only one forge where you can get the Obsidian Accelerator. While there are four forges in total, the Bergusia Forge is where you’re going to have to head to if you want to get your Obsidian Accelerator. You’ll want to make sure that you’re peaking at around 650 Light level if you don’t want this undertaking to be too much of a hassle.

If you’re in the market for an Obsidian Accelerator and still have an Exotic or two to wrangle, it’s possible to pick one up as a result of completing the Izanagi’s Burden sniper rifle riddle that the Mysterious Datapad in the weapon quest itself gives you.

This one involves completing a riddle in the Niobe Labs and then wrecking all four Forges – Volundr, Gofannon, Izanami, and Bergusia – while you have Black Armory armor and weapons equipped. You’ll earn another Accelerator which can be traded in to Ada-1 as per usual for an Obsidian Radiance.

You can then get more Radiance by completing Forges, but the method described above is generally the only way to mine this material once you’ve snagged Izanagi’s Burden.

Now that you’ve got our Destiny 2 Obsidian Accelerator guide to help you with obtaining this particular gift for Ada-1, it should be no time at all until you have the materials necessary to get your Obsidian Radiance and have your Black Armory weapons firing on all cylinders.
