Destiny 2 Mysterious Datapad Guide – How to Get the Mysterious Datapad

Since you’ve been gunning for Izanagi’s Burden, you’ll have the Mysterious Box quest already picked up and ready to go. Part of this will reward you with the Mysterious Datapad, and you’ll embark on a whole other quest that isn’t entirely related to Izanagi’s Burden. The Datapad will require that you head over to Niobe Labs, which is in the EDZ. However, if you’re wanting to minimize your time spent faffing around then you’ll want to come prepared with a couple of things before you head into the labs in earnest:

  • Izanagi’s Burden (goes without saying, but still, we figured we’d point it out)
  • Hammerhead (machine gun)
  • Spiteful Fang (bow)
  • Tatara Gaze (sniper rifle)

All the above are weapons, and you’re going to need to use them within the Niobe Labs.

Destiny 2 Mysterious Datapad Guide – The Mysterious Datapad Riddle

Once you’re in the Niobe Labs and you have the necessary weapons that we’ve outlined above, you’re going to have to journey to the bowels of the Labs and activate its central platform as part of this mission that the Mysterious Datapad gives you. It’ll be called Lost Souvenir. Look for a lever under the platform in the middle of the Labs and you’ll be thrown into a quickshoot round where you have to hit targets with the corresponding weapons AND in the correct order. Here’s how you’re going to have to do it. Note that this part doesn’t require you to use Izanagi’s Burden quite yet; that comes after.

  1. Shoot the paper symbol with Spiteful Fang
  2. Shoot the cloud symbol with Hammerhead
  3. Shoot the temple symbol with Tatara Gaze
  4. Shoot the sun symbol with Spiteful Fang
  5. Shoot the star symbol with Hammerhead
  6. Shoot the hand symbol with Hammerhead
  7. Shoot the Black Armory symbol with Tatara Gaze

Once you’ve played shoot the hieroglyphics and gotten them all in the right order as outlined above, a bunch of Taken will flood the room. Some of them will have shields which your bullets are going to be incredibly ineffective against; they can only be taken down by Izanagi’s Burden. Equip that bad boy and start kicking butt and taking names. Once you’ve wiped out the enemies that have gotten to you, you have to finish all four Forges (Volundr, Gofannon, Izanami, and Bergusia) while wearing Black Armory armor and using Black Armory weapons. This will get you the Obsidian Dreams emblem and an Obsidian Accelerator, which you can pawn off to Ada-1.

Now that you’ve got our Destiny 2 Mysterious Datapad guide in hand, you’ll be able to tackle the Labs’ challenge with ease and get your hands on that Obsidian Accelerator so you can take on the Forges with even more aplomb. Check out our Destiny 2 Obsidian Accelerator guide if you’re in need of more of them to find out how else they can be obtained.
