Apex Legends has established itself as a top battle royale title on the platforms of PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. However, one feature that the game’s community have been wanting for some time is the ability to play with players on different platforms through some form of cross-platform capability. Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale game has never had cross-platform play enabled throughout its life. This lack of cross-platform play in Apex Legends could be changing in the future. One community member has discovered files inside of the title suggesting the highly requested feature could be introduced.
Is Apex Legends Cross-Platform?
Well-known data-miner That1MiningGuy recently uncovered a set of files that reference cross-platform play between PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. That1MiningGuy also discovered files regarding a centralized ID that would likely be used by players to identify themselves across all platforms.
I’m not 100% convinced we’ll see it soon, but did want to show that I found some handling for cross network play using something called Nucleus – also looks like they have a way to standardize the Player Identification across platforms? pic.twitter.com/MpIWgjkvFS

It remains to be seen if and when Respawn Entertainment will enable players to play with others on different platforms in Apex Legends. It would not be surprising to see the developer add the popular feature to the battle royale title. Fortnite Battle Royale and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare both support cross-platform play in decisions that have been met with a great deal of positivity from players. The implementation of the system creates a singular community that can play all together. This helps grow and sustain a healthy player base heading into a future where Apex Legends will likely be facing plenty of stiff competition when it comes to the competitive multiplayer world.
