How to Trade Pals in Palworld

Gotta trade'em all, I guess

With so many Pals to catch in the game, it can be hard to fully complete your Paldeck with all of the possible creatures in Palworld. Trading with friends while playing on a multiplayer server would be a great help, but is there any way to do it?

Can You Trade Pals in Palworld?

As of the Early Access release, you cannot officially trade Pals in Palworld. However, there’s a way to give your Pals to other players in multiplayer. It isn’t exactly a trade, but others can hand your Pals to others by simply using the game’s mechanics.

The closest thing you’ll get to official trades is buying/selling Pals at certain merchants around the map. These are NPC “trades” and can be done even in a single-player world, so it’s not actually trading in the most traditional sense.

Official trading is scheduled to be released sometime later in the game. While it wasn’t implemented during its initial version, developers have repeatedly affirmed that trading will be implemented later in the game, just like PvP.

How to Trade Pals By Dropping

You can give Pals to your friends by dropping them off. Open your menu, select Party and hover over the desired Pal, then press R (or Right stick on controllers) to drop your Pal. The game even tells you about other players being able to have your Pal, so hit Yes.

The Pal Sphere will be placed on the ground as a regular item, so others can pick your ex-Pal and use it for themselves. You can also pick it back up immediately and it will be back to your party as if it never left.

Since this is more like gifting than trading, make sure that you can trust the other person if you’re trying to trade it for another Pal instead of just giving it away. Otherwise, you might be left Pal-less in the end.

How to Trade Pals Using the Palbox

Another effective method is by using the Palbox. Other players can access your Palbox in multiplayer if they’re part of your Guild, so just place whichever Pal you wish to trade/give away in your box and have the other person grab it.

To join someone else’s Guild, approach them and hold F (or hold X in the Xbox controllers). As soon as the bar’s complete, you’re part of their Guild and will have full access to their Base, including their Palbox. You can also place your own Pals in it to make it an actual trade, if you want to.

Can You Trade Cross-platform in Palworld?

Unfortunately, there’s no cross-platform introduced in the game just yet, which makes trades impossible between different platforms. If you’re looking for a way to trade some Pals with your friends from Steam while playing on Xbox, you’ll have to get the game on the same platform as they’re currently in. Crossplay is also scheduled to be released later, but there’s no prediction on when that will happen.

It might take a while before actual trades are finally introduced, but we know they’re coming at some point. If we assume a similar system to Pokemon, there might be no restrictions to trading, but let’s wait and see what Pocketpair has in their minds for implementing the system. Other important aspects as PvP aren’t here just yet either, so we might see a lot of new things being introduced later down the line.
