Can You Recruit Griss in Fire Emblem Engage – Answered

Can you recruit the man who badly wants to be punched in the face?

Fire Emblem Engage is a game full of misfits and weirdos, and that’s what we love about it. As you play through the game, you’ll encounter many characters who will seem, at first glance, like your enemy. But we’ve seen how characters happen to jump ship when their world beliefs are broken or they suddenly see the light. But what about Griss? Can you recruit Griss in Fire Emblem Engage?

Can You Recruit Griss in Fire Emblem Engage – Answered

Griss is one of the Four Hounds, and like his found family, his one goal is to resurrect the Fell Dragon. And, perhaps, be punished. Griss certainly loves to be punished.

We’re introduced to him and the rest of the Four Hounds during one of the most brutal moments in the game. And while it seems like he’s a character that can’t be redeemed, we see Ivy joining us shortly after. And there’s a certain charm about all the Hounds (except Zephia).

So… can you recruit him?

Many players have theorized so, even before the game was fully released. He, and the rest of the hounds, have internal growth rate stats, which is something that’s usually only reserved for characters you can recruit.

But that doesn’t mean you can recruit him. Griss is a character that simply does not want to be recruited and, thus, won’t be. Alear and company can’t give him what he wants, which is a cruel and terrible beating that puts him within inches of death. Alear is simply too tender-hearted to do it, and I’ll be honest, he’d make things pretty weird pretty fast.

It’s far better for him to stay with Zephia and the Fell Dragon. After all, if he’s ever going to get what he wants, he will have to mess up big time. And causing problems for the Fell Dragon can only benefit us.
