Can You Play Windrose Offline?

Yes, you can completely play offline, and there is no strict online requirement. The entire pirate adventure can be enjoyed as a single-player experience with a full campaign.

Keep in mind that since Windrose is in early access, you will need an internet connection to download its various updates, which will often include new content, important bug fixes, quality-of-life additions, and a lot more. The developers have said that they aim to keep the title in early access for 1.5 to 2.5 years, during which the content will be doubled. However, that doesn’t mean you need to be in an online session to access content; that’s only through the Steam client.

Does Windrose Have Cloud Saves?

Yes, Windrose fully supports cloud saves thanks to Steam Cloud, meaning you can access your progress data on different devices where you’re logged into Steam.

Windrose Game Modes

Windrose can be played either solo or in co-op, depending on how you want to experience the game.

  • Solo Play: You can play entirely on your own if you prefer a more relaxed, single-player survival experience.
  • Co-op Play: If you want to team up with others, you can host a session and invite friends or other players to join you for shared adventures. This is done through Steam and using invite codes.
  • Dedicated Servers: For more control and flexibility, Windrose also supports dedicated servers. This lets you customize your server setup and manage your own persistent world.

It’s important to note that Windrose is not a PvP game. All online interactions are strictly PvE, meaning players cooperate against the environment rather than competing against each other.

The developers may add PvP elements or a PvP mode in future updates, but for now, Windrose is all about cooperative plunder and looting. Windrose was originally supposed to be an MMO, but the developers completely changed their design approach and opted for a shared adventuring experience where players overcome challenges together or alone.
