Can You Lock-On to Enemies in Dragon’s Dogma 2? – Answered

This ain't Legend of Zelda.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 features some of the most engaging combat in the role-playing space, but some players may need to get accustomed to how it works. Many games allow you to lock onto your enemies when attacking — but can you lock-on to enemies in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Lock-On in Dragon’s Dogma 2 Explained

Unfortunately, no—you cannot lock on to enemies in Dragon’s Dogma 2. If you’re planning on engaging enemies in combat, you must use your natural wit and skill to keep them in your line of sight. You’ll need to keep using your right stick or mouse to keep your enemies in your line of sight, no matter where you are. Some classes have a slight lock-on when using their skills, but there is no Z-Targeting of any kind here.

It takes a while to get used to, especially with the number of attacks and spells flying across the screen at any given time, but you’ll start mastering this quickly. Dragon’s Dogma 2’s combat is one of the most interesting parts about it—imagine if Devil May Cry was set in the 1800s and instead of demons, you’re slashing goblins. Once you master the art of combat here, you’ll never even think about the possibility of lock-on again.

To be fair, the first couple of fights had me yearning for a lock-on button, but as I slowly slipped back into my fond memories of Dragon’s Dogma on the Xbox 360, I remembered that I didn’t need that extra bit of help. Plus, it’s hilarious to watch your character get stuck in a non-stop chop loop because you weren’t paying attention to your surroundings.
