Can You Hold Your Weapon in Left Hand in CS2? – Answered

Being able to change your weapon perspective, or in other words, which hand you are holding your gun in Counter-Strike, has been a thing for the past quarter of a century (it does look like a long period when you phrase it like that). However, the Counter-Strike 2 community raises the question of the possibility of switching your hands in CS2. I am here to demystify this situation for you and explain whether you can hold your weapon in your left hand in CS2 or not.

Is There a cl_righthand Command in CS2?

Unfortunately, cl_righthand command does not exist in CS2 at this moment. Currently (early September), CS2 is not officially out yet, but most CS:GO players can enlist in the free open beta. This is problematic and lazy, in my opinion, because I have been playing Counter-Strike with “cl_righthand 0” since I found out about this option about 25 years ago. Sadly, that’s not the only thing where CS2 shot below the mark compared to the (still alive) predecessor, CS:GO. It’s just a mirror image of the texture like in the image above, right?

Is There an In-Game Option to Hold Weapon in Left Hand in CS2?

Sadly, there isn’t even an option in the CS2 menu to change your preference of holding the weapon in your right or left hand. I scoured the entire menu and found nothing, in the false hope that they just changed the console command to something phrased differently.

Will There Be a cl_righthand Console Command in CS2 In the Future?

It has yet to be officially determined if you can hold your weapon in the left hand in CS2 in the future; there is still time until the official release of CS2, which means there is room for improvement. I hope Valve hears the community’s feedback and implements a solution for us left-handers.
