The Borderlands 3 mail system is a bit of an odd one and is not explained very well in the game, despite being home to some pretty sweet rewards. Here’s a quick rundown of how the virtual postal system works.

How to Check Your Mail in Borderlands 3

To check your mail in Borderlands 3, you’ll need to head to the in-game social menu. However, you can’t do this while you’re in the main menu, or you’ll get an error message. Instead, you need to be loaded into your save, pause the game, check the social tab, and then navigate to the envelope icon. While the extra step may seem dumb, the reasoning behind this is likely tied to the fact that you can make multiple Hunters, so you need to be loaded into a specific character if you want to receive that specific character’s mail.

If you’re new to Borderlands, you might not even be aware that there is a mail tab that you can access. However, with a lot of players hopping into the Bounty of Blood DLC, now seemed like a good time to explain the process to make sure everyone was getting all of their rewards. Essentially, as you complete missions in the game, you’ll occasionally be rewarded with different weapons as a thank you. If you’d like to claim these free weapons, then you’ll need to visit your mailbox and to do that, you’ll need to know how to check your mail!

A lot of the time, the weapons you receive aren’t as good as your current loadout, but usually, they’re still worth a pretty penny. So even if your Vault Hunter doesn’t need a weapon, you can still sell it off for some extra cash and upgrade your character, buy more ammo, spend it at Moxxi’s, or whatever you’d like. The point is, there are likely free weapons waiting available to you so be sure to claim them!

If you’ve been away from the game for a while, the Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood DLC was just released and is the third of four planned expansions for the game. The DLC will take players to the planet of Gehenna and will feature brand new characters that have nothing to do with the main story. Further, if you’re a newer player and happen to own the DLC or the Season Pass and aren’t eligible for the expansion yet, you can create a new Vault Hunter that will automatically be leveled up high enough for the DLC.

Further, there are a handful of new Crew Challenges that players can complete as they explore Gehenna along with legendary weapons that can be farmed from enemies. If you’d like to know more about the game, be sure to check out some of the links below.
