Best Way to Farm Sticky Lizards in Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)

Elusive Sticky Lizards and how to capture them

One of the sought-after wandering ingredients for making Sticky Elixir (needed for climbing slippery surfaces) is the elusive Sticky Lizard. Let’s find out where to find these Sticky Lizards and the best ways for farming.

What Are Sticky Lizards?

In the Hyrule Compendium, Sticky Lizard is listed under number 92 and its official description reads “The suction of its toes allows this lizard to easily cling to walls. It could be an asset for a climber on wet surfaces if it were mixed into an elixir.”

They can be found mostly in Hyrule caves and underground passages, and sometimes they can appear near Shrines as well as in some other random places but much less often. They are very small, and can sometimes blend into the background with their greenish color.

In order to catch them you will need to use sprint if you see them on the ground, because they can be very fast. Most likely, they will be on the cave walls sticking to them, as you would expect from a Sticky Lizard, so for easier pickup just shoot them with your bow from a distance.

Where to Farm Sticky Lizards in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

As far as farming is concerned, well… you can forget about classic farming in the sense that you will be able to get them in large quantities in a short time. There is no single location where Sticky Lizards will spawn faster. Their spawn rate is rare and they spook very quickly, so you will have to be very patient. A common route to try to find the Sticky Lizard would be to visit all the caves near Hyrule Field. One of the locations that gave us good results was Hyrule’s Whistling Hill Cave.

How to Farm Sticky Lizards in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

In the Whistling Hill Cave, every time you enter, you should find around two to three Sticky Lizards on the walls of the first couple of rooms. Just keep in mind that if you see two or more Sticky Lizards on the wall, if you shoot an arrow at one, the other will spook and despawn very quickly—so, the solution is an arrow with some explosive attached to damage the others as well. Alternatively, equipping the Stealth Armor set can help you just get close to them and just pick them up. Better farming than that is hardly feasible. Have fun chasing those sticky little devils.

Where to Buy Sticky Lizards

You can buy Sticky LIzards from Beedle at the South Akkala Stable if you’re having trouble catching the speedy little reptiles. They cost 32 Rupees each, but he’ll only carry two at a time. Beedle will eventually restock his shop, but it will take time, so if you need more than a couple Sticky Lizards, purchasing them isn’t going to be the speediest method.

What to Do With Sticky Lizards

Once you’ve caught your fair share of Sticky Lizards, you can use them to:

  • Craft Sticky Elixirs: grants slip resistance to keep you from slipping on wet surfaces.
  • Upgrade Froggy Armor: you’ll need three Sticky Lizards each for the Froggy Hood, Froggy Sleeve, and Froggy Leggings to upgrade to the first rank. You’ll need five lizards for each piece of armor to upgrade to the second rank.
  • Sell for 8 Rupees.

That’s all we have for Sticky Lizards in TotK. For more Zelda Tears of the Kingdom here on Prima Games check out how to find some other materials such as Lizalfos Tail and Raw Prime Meat.
