With Season 6 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, we get to unlock one last assault rifle in the form of the TR-76 Geist, which you may recognize as the Tar-21. This rifle has a slower rate of fire with plenty of damage in each shot, and I have the best overall loadout for you to try in MW2.
Best Attachments for the TR-76 Geist in MW2
The TR-76 has a similar build to the ISO Hemlock, and we want to prioritize mid-ranged fights. So I use a red dot and remove any kind of stock. There are also some odd barrel options, but there is a decent enough selection for a build that can eviscerate at any range.
Best TR-76 Geist Loadout in MW2:
- Barrel: LOC.5 Long Barrel (+0.27 weight, +0.22 length)
- Muzzle: Sakin Tread-40 (+0.40 weight, +0.22 length)
- Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56 (+0.42 weight, +0.22 length)
- Rear Grip: Tactical Grip Tape (-0.40 weight, -0.28 width)
- Optic: Cronen Mini Pro
The three attachments I use for control are the LOC.5 Long Barrel, the Sakin Tread-40, and the FTAC Ripper 56. Your barrel is what will help the most with damage range, which is incredibly important for the new Tar-21.
For the last two attachments, you just need the Tactical Grip Tape for mobility and the Cronen Mini Pro for a better sight. With all five of these pieces, your loadout is going to feel fantastic at every range. Just make sure to tune for the desired effect as well.
Best TR-76 Class in MW2
On the TR-76, you want to focus on the standard perks you would find any any other assault rifle, and you don’t need to worry about having a sidearm. Knives are almost always the best secondary options, so you can move around the map much faster.
Best Equipment and Perks with the TR-76:
- Base Perk One: Double Time
- Base Perk Two: Bomb Squad
- Bonus Perk: Fast Hands
- Ultimate Perk: Quick Fix or Ghost
- Secondary Weapon: Melee
- Tactical: Stim or Flash Grenade
- Lethal: Semtex
- Field Upgrades: Dead Silence and Trophy System
You have some options in a few slots, like the lethal position. Frag Grenades are usually the best choice for versatility. However, Semtex is much better for confirming kills and taking down players with Riot Shields. I personally can’t stand the Riot Shielders, so I always carry Semtex.
How to Unlock the TR-76 in MW2
The TR-76 is unlocked by completing the F7 sector in the Season 6 Battle Pass for COD Modern Warfare 2. That means you need at least 20 Battle Pass Tokens to unlock the new assault rifle for use in custom loadouts. Buying BlackCell is an easy way to bypass this, though.
You can always head into DMZ and extract a TR-76 from an enemy or a teammate who already has the Tar-21 unlocked. Otherwise, you’ll need to complete an AR-based challenge after the season ends to unlock the TR-76.
