While there are many great players in Dunk City Dynasty, this list will focus solely on the “starter” players available in the game. This includes players coming from the Elite Player banners from the Star Vouchers and excludes the superstars.

Since every account chooses one starter player, here’s a list to help you decide which are the best starter players to get for your preferred playstyle and position in Dunk City Dynasty.

Best Starter Players to Pick Early in Dunk City Dynasty

Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic is the type of player who can do almost anything at the point guard position. It is shocking that he isn’t part of the superstar banner, but here we are. Luka has countless moves, like a step-back, hesi drive, spin and finish, glide and three, and all sorts of move variations, all to score buckets.

His ability to create shots is almost unmatched, and Luka can rain down threes when needed. Luka could possibly be better than other superstars for casual players because you can upgrade his talent cards with Star Talent Cards instead of Superstar Talent Cards, which goes for every player on this list.

Luka’s three highest attributes are mid-range, dribbling, and layups. He can also pass the ball and has an annoying shot fake and pass.

Jordan Clarkson

Jordan Clarkson has one of the strongest ultimate skills in Fast Takeoff compared to other starters. Fast Takeoff can easily be used to get an almost guaranteed bucket, which is usually used to get a three-pointer. For some reason, the Fast Takeoff skill has an absurd chance of going in even when the shot is heavily contested on defense.

Apart from his amazing ultimate skill, Jordan is also one of the shiftiest players. He creates space similar to how Luka does it, but with a bit more quickness and fewer variations. He can Swiftly Maneuver, Power Shake, and finish and dunk at the rim with ease.

Clint Capela

Clint Capela boasts one of the highest Rebounding attributes in the game while being one of the best defensive anchors for any team. His Snatch Block signature skill lets Capela take the ball on a successful block attempt, so your team doesn’t have to track the ball down after a block, not to mention how it also boosts your block attempts in general.

Most players don’t realize it, but the most important aspect is winning the rebound game. The one who controls the boards controls the game. Capela can single-handedly win matches because of his ability to get all the rebounds and even use his almost unstoppable standing dunk, especially after getting an offensive rebound.

Klay Thompson

Klay Thompson is one of the most lethal shooters in the game, as expected from the other half of the Splash Brothers. His ultimate Zen Shot skill gives the team a reliable way to get a three-point basket. Klay could also use Drift Shot against mismatches since it’ll be hard for forwards or bigs to close out on him.

Besides his sharpshooting capabilities, Klay is also one of the best perimeter defenders in the game. He is known as a 3&D player and specializes in shooting and defense.

Zion Williamson

Zion Williamson barely makes the list as a versatile forward who can control the boards and become an unstoppable force. When used correctly, he can use his Unstoppable skill to get an easy dunk. His biggest asset is his ability to receive alley-oop dunks from great passing guards like Chris Paul.

Alley-oop dunks are so hard to block or stop, and if the opposing bigs don’t have a solution to stop them, they are almost guaranteed to win because Zion Williamson can request an alley-oop on every play.

Outside of finishing inside, Zion lacks shooting and the ability to create space from the perimeter, but you don’t really expect a player to do that from the power forward position. Zion’s defensive prowess is also underrated. He has decent stealing and blocking while being decent at guarding all positions.

He’s also an easy player to get because you get him for free from the 3-day login event.

Russell Westbrook

Russel Westbrook’s athletic and playmaking abilities give him a unique skill set that sets him apart from all the other point guards. Because of his overall physical attributes, Westbrook is one of the best driving and finishing guards, and he is decent at defending the perimeter.

His Mighty Putback is one of the most underrated ultimate skills because it can convert a missed shot into a rebound and a putback. However, if you are playing Russel Westbrook, it allows the defender to sag on defense since he can’t really convert threes at a decent clip.

Jamal Murray

Jamal Murray’s Blue Arrow ultimate skill is quite similar to Jordan Clarkson’s or Klay Thompson’s. It allows Murray to create his own space and shoot a high-percentage three, especially in clutch situations. That ultimate skill alone warrants a spot on the list automatically.

Murray’s best strength is his mixed bag. He can create space, pass the ball, shoot the ball from the outside, protect the ball, and finish at the rim. You can think of him as a “discount” Stephen Curry, and for a non-superstar player, that’s already great.
