Best Kastov 762 Search & Destroy Loadout in MW2

Don't forget the classics.

The AK-47, otherwise known as the Kastov 762 in Modern Warfare 2, is a fantastic rifle to use for high damage and high velocity nearly anywhere on the map. Compared to other rifles, you won’t see it as much in Search and Destroy, unless you’re in public matches.

Regardless of the popularity, the Kastov 762 can absolutely shred through enemies before they even know what hit them. The rifle can be a bit slow and kick at range, but that’s what we’re here to fix. In this MW2 guide, we’ll discuss how you can build your Kastov and what to add to your class for Search & Destroy.

COD MW2 – Best Kastov 762 Loadout for Search & Destroy

When we build our AK-47, we want to focus on the damage and range potential that the weapon has. In competitive, this is the closest thing to the power of an LMG. To realize the potential, the goal is to have some precision and control across the board, while maintaining that raw damage.

  • Barrel: KAS-10 584mm Barrel
  • Muzzle: Sakin Tread-40
  • Underbarrel: FTAC Ripper 56
  • Rear Grip: True-Tac Grip
  • Optic: Cronen Mini Pro

The most controversial part of the build is the barrel which we have listed as the KAS-10 584mm Barrel. Sometimes it’s better to run no barrel on a rifle like this, but we want the damage range, recoil control, and bullet velocity that it provides. The Kastov 762 will be a bit slower, which is something that needs to be embraced. It can’t outpace other rifles and should lean on mid-range fights.

Control attachments are next on the list and we use the Sakin Tread-40 muzzle along with the FTAC Ripper 56 under barrel. Both of these will add a ton of recoil control across the board. The FTAC Ripper 56, in particular, will bring plenty of accuracy to the table that will allow us to hit headshots. Pairing the Cronen Mini Pro optic and the True-Tac Grip will bolster the weaknesses caused by the other three attachments.

As for perks, Double Time and Bomb Squad are always a must in MW2. Fast Hands or Resupply or viable depending on the format you’re in. Then you’ll need an Ultimate Perk, which we typically reserve for Ghost. However, High Alert and Quick Fix are hard to argue against with the Kastov 762.

Equipment is the last piece of the puzzle. Using a knife as a secondary is a must, especially to bypass the weight of the weapon when running. Then we want a Frag Grenade and a Flash Bang, both of which are universal. Dead Silence is always a good pick for the Field Upgrade, but the Trophy System will fit the Kastov 762 playstyle better in Modern Warfare 2.
