The Sims 4 has numerous jobs to explore, with expansions and game packs adding more to the mix. From becoming a world-renowned actor to living a life of crime, there is no shortage of options to try.
Let’s dive right into the top 10 best careers in The Sims 4.
The Sims 4 – Top 10 Best Careers Ranked
The Sims 4 has dozens of careers and branches you can try, each with varying work hours, pay, and skill requirements. While most jobs have your character heading off-screen and returning later, many let you work from home, with active careers allowing you to control your character during work hours.
This list of The Sims 4’s top ten best careers includes a mix of high-paying, enjoyable, and exciting jobs. With that said, many of these entries are subjective. While many require expansion or game packs, you will also find some base game additions.
10. Social Media Internet Personality
If you want to become a famous internet influencer, The Sims 4: City Living’s social media career is the first place to start. With a few jokes, followers, and a dream, your Sim can go from playing a few video games to having tens of millions of followers by becoming an internet superstar.
One of the fun parts about this job is the career interactions you unlock. While the career itself nets little money, you can get mass sponsorship opportunities, advertise major products, and host streams for extra income. You can also pursue multiple avenues for gaining followers, making it a viable career path for any Sim.
9. Style Influencer
Imagine having the power to influence others to wear whichever outfits you want. As a style influencer, you can give other Sims makeovers and make trends that others follow. It’s up to you what outfits you create; if you want everyone to wear gnome costumes, you can make it happen as a trend-setting influencer.
Oh, and let’s not forget how much money you make in later levels. As a max-level style influencer under the Stylist branch, you’re set for life as you make 15,000 Simoleons a week. Trend Setters also make a fair bit of money at around 13,530 a week.
8. Detective
Few things are more fun in The Sims 4 than walking around, gathering evidence, and convicting someone of wacky crimes during an active job. While some prefer being a criminal, becoming a detective and jumping right onto the crime scene to solve cases is also satisfying.
Interrogating people is also very entertaining, albeit short-lived.
Although it isn’t as complicated as jobs like interior designer and doctor, you’ll still find yourself doing some problem-solving, especially once you get your clue list and have to narrow down potential suspects. However, this does get a little finicky, especially if the Sim changes their clothes and misleads you. Nonetheless, it makes for an interesting challenge!
7. Doctor
Being a doctor in the real world isn’t easy, nor is it in The Sims 4: Get to Work. While the first few days start simple, things get complicated once you start diagnosing and treating diseases. With numerous symptoms and illness options, it is easy to mistake one illness for another, even if you run every diagnostic test possible.
However, the satisfaction of correctly diagnosing a disease and actively working on the job makes for a pleasant experience, especially once you reach later levels and make some decent money.
6. Business Owner
Starting a successful business in The Sims 4 is a challenging feat. With numerous upfront costs, making money with a retail store, vet clinic, or any other business you own can feel like an uphill battle.
However, it’s heavily reliant on personal preference; how challenging it is to own a business and make money can easily create stress and frustration. In contrast, the payoff can be incredible, depending on whether you can overcome the challenge.
If you’re willing to invest time, money, and patience into starting and watching your business grow, you can turn a stressful venture into something entertaining. This can also extend to owning a restaurant if you have Dine Out. Just be careful of their bugs!
5. Scientist
If you like meeting aliens, creating new inventions, and doing a bit of gardening on the side, then the scientist career is for you. As an active career, you get to visit a science lab each day and conduct experiments alongside inventing new peculiar gadgets.
As a bonus, if you create extra inventions, you can sell them for decent money.
One of the most entertaining parts about this pack is unlocking and using a ray gun to freeze other Sims or command them to do your bidding. You can quickly turn evil and cause chaos, turning an otherwise mundane workday into a wild and weird one.
4. Military Officer
If you want to make plenty of money, The Sims 4: StrangerVille’s military career is the way to go. In particular, going down the officer branch and becoming a Grand Marshal will have you working eight hours a day, five days a week, at 422 Simoleons an hour. In other words, you’ll make over 16,000 Simoleons a week.
I don’t know about you, but that sounds pretty fun to me!
3. Freelance Careers
Technically, the freelance career encompasses several jobs, from digital artist to fashion photographer. However, this is part of why it ranks so high on the list: it has multiple branches that reward you for improving your skills, trying new hobbies, and not being afraid to take risks.
Why is it not higher on the list, then? There isn’t much advancement beyond a few career levels and extra money.
Unlike regular jobs, freelancer careers increase in value depending on your skill level. While a simple, writing level one task may reward you one hundred Simoleons, a master writer can make thousands daily if they’re quick. Although it isn’t an active career or one with a lot of career advancement
2. Actor
Lights, camera, action! The Sims 4: Get Famous introduces an acting career that is one of the most enjoyable jobs for several reasons. Aside from being one of my personal favorites on this list, it is also an active career, allowing you to explore a movie set. Here, you can socialize with other Sims, have your costume prepared, and act out scenes. Doing so will enable you to make money, friends, and odds decisions.
1. Interior Decorator
The interior decorator career from The Sims 4: Dream Home Decorator is hectic, making it real fun. As another active career, you’ll find yourself visiting clients lots, taking pictures, and hearing feedback from the Sims you’re helping. If you’re creative and enjoy building Sims lots, this is a great option to explore.
While the pay for interior decorators is lower than some other entries on this list, it’s my favorite because unleashing creativity into renovating rooms or entire floor levels is satisfying. How much you work also depends on how many gigs you take and how quickly you finish them, giving you complete freedom to choose your own schedule.
In other words, it’s a more entertaining version of a freelance job, as you can physically visit lots and decorate them.
