The Best Assault Rifle

Finding the best assault rifle all depends on player style and preference. While some of these weapons are more powerful than others, the gun’s Stability, Fire Rate, and Effective Range will all play a key part in deciding which one best suits your playstyle.

AKM

The AKM is one of the most commonly found assault rifles in the game, and it utilizes 7.62mm ammunition within its chamber. It has a the lowest Power of the four assault rifles available, but offers the a high Stability rating to make up for it. It’s Firing Rate is one of the lowest in the game, making it perfect for those who like to time their shots and take their time. This weapon is more effective from medium to long range, and it offers the second highest Effective Range available.

Scar-L

Sometimes heralded as one of the best weapons in the game, the Scar-L actually holds the lowest Power rate of any of the four assault rifles currently included. This lower Power rate is made up for with a high Firing Rate, and the Scar-L can spit out a ton of bullets in a short time, especially when fighting in close quarter situations. While this weapon can be used favorably for more long-range encounters, we’ve found that it usually works best in medium-close range situations, especially if you’re running it on full auto.

M16A4

The M16 is another somewhat common assault rifle, which offers a high Power output, as well as the longest Effective Range on any assault rifle added into the game so far. It’s great for taking out enemies from medium-long range, and it’s burst-fire mode is exceptionally useful in many different encounters. It has plenty of room for augmentation, with several Mods spots available, and when equipped with a Suppressor, the M16A4 is our top pick for a good, stable assault rifle with plenty of punch packed in. It also uses 5.56mm ammunition, which can be easy to find in high-pop areas.

M416

The final assault rifle in the game is one of the rarer weapons you’ll find in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and that makes it one of the most coveted. If you happen upon this rifle, you can pick it up knowing that you have a high Power output, great Effective Range, good Stability, and excellent Firing Rate. It’s the crème de la crème of assault rifles, and when equipped with the correct Mods (Suppressors, etc.) the M416 is almost unstoppable in the right hands. If you happen upon this rifle, we’d suggest picking it up, as it’s considered the de facto best assault rifle in the game.

As we stated at the start of this article, the best assault rifle for you really comes down to your playstyle and preferences. At the end of the day, any weapon is better than running around empty-handed, so make sure you don’t ignore an AKM or M16A4 just because it doesn’t really fit with your playstyle. Each weapon has its strength and weaknesses, and learning those differences is all part of the experience.
