What Is Causing Incompatible Version Save Issue In Baldur’s Gate 3?

If you’ve been playing non-stop from sun up to sun down, there is a chance that you may not have run into this error. However, for those that have taken a little break from the game, you may find your save locked out after you’ve saved and quit the program. Unfortunately, there’s not much we can do right now, according to Larian Studios.

After rolling out the latest Hotfix, it seems the development studio noticed that there was a nasty bug that was causing plenty of crashes, so they rolled the update back. Until Larian Studios rolls Hotfix 4 back out to the masses, the only thing you can do is load a save from before this point and continue playing from there.

We have a candidate for a build, which is going through rigorous internal testing before it’s released. If all goes well, we aim to release Hotfix 4 by the end of the day, EU. We’ll let you know if and when anything changes.
