How to Complete the Faith-Leap Trial in BG3

You’ll first find the Faith-Leap Trial in the Gauntlet of Shar dungeon. It is one of the three puzzles you will need to solve to complete the challenge. This dungeon is located at the Grand Mausoleum and is related to Shadowheart’s own background, given that she is a follower of Shar.

To beat the Faith-Leap Trial, you need to walk across the transparent ground and avoid any of the shadows along the way. Making the wrong move will either teleport you back to the start or instantly kill the character you were using. For this trial, we recommend using one character and having the rest of your party wait behind.

You should pick a character that has access to Fly or Misty Step spells so traversal is far easier. Once you have your character selected, don’t forget to give blood to the sacrificial bowl or you will have to restart. Sacrifice a drop of blood and then activate the traversal ability of your choosing. In our case, we used Gale and had him cast the flight spell.

With flight activated, we were able to reach the other side in three jumps. But they can’t just be random jumps. You need to avoid all of the shadows in the room. This includes the shadows on the elevated platforms and the shadows on the ground.

How to Solve the Faith-Leap Trial in BG3:

  • Select a solo character with abilities like Fly or Misty Step.
  • Sacrifice blood into the bowl.
  • Fly or jump to spots on the floor that are clear of shadow.
  • Shadow must be avoided at all costs.
  • Items can be thrown to test if the floor is traversable.
  • Jump onto the platform at the very end to claim the Umbral Gem.

At first, you might think that the shadows are the right path. It’s the exact opposite though, and if you can see the outline of a path, it should be avoided at all costs. The floor itself is completely walkable, and if it looks transparent, that’s the way to go. Fly or teleport to spots that look clear until you reach the final statue and gem.
