Obsidian Entertainment’s latest entry in the Pillars of Eternity franchise is Avowed, a first-person RPG now available on PC and Xbox consoles. The title is currently available in early access for players who purchased the Premium Edition, but the general consensus on the PC port is fairly positive.
It’s available on multiple clients on PC with support for cloud saves across the board. That said, you can access your local files for future use, logging, or troubleshooting by accessing the save file location for Avowerd.
Avowed Save File Location
Client | Save File Location |
---|---|
Steam | C:\Users\[Windows Username]\Saved Games\Avowed |
Battle.net | C:\Users\[Windows Username]\Saved Games\Avowed |
We recommend backing up the “Avowed” folder containing the save files in the .sav format. This should be the same location for both Steam and Battle.net clients, but we can’t confirm the location Xbox App version just yet, as most of the save files for that are usually encrypted.
Save File Shortcut
You can access the same location on your PC by entering the following address in Windows Run or File Explorer:
%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Avowed
Log Files Shortcut
If you’ve bought Avowed on Steam, you can access your log files at the following location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common
Avowed Configuration Files Location
Since this is an Unreal Engine 5 title, players can locate the configuration files for Avowed at the following location:
C:\Users\[Windows Username]\AppData\Local\Alabama\Saved\Config\Windows
Here, you can open the Engine.ini file to edit different aspects of the title to your liking.
Avowed Steam Features
On Steam, Avowed has a few noteworthy features including Steam Cloud, achievements marked in the client along with full controller support, and Steam Input.
Outside of Steam, players who purchase the title on either Battle.net or Microsoft Store will be able to play the title on either platform or Xbox consoles. The Premium Edition is the only way to play the game before its official release on February 18, 2025, and gives players a few extra goodies including outfits.
It’s usually easier to keep track of save files if you have purchased the game on Steam or Battle.net compared to Microsoft Store. Early impressions of Avowed are largely positive and we’re glad to see a better use of Unreal Engine 5 in a new release.
