Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now available on consoles and PC, and it finally takes the franchise to Japan with two unique protagonists. The PC version is available through multiple clients, each supporting cloud saves and even cross-progression with the Ubisoft account.
It’s the next-generation jump for the series and looks stunning on the right hardware. However, if you’re looking to track down your local progress data, here is the saved file location of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on PC for each client.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Save File Location
Client | Save File Location |
---|---|
Steam | C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\<UbisoftConnectID>\1081 |
Ubisoft Connect | C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\<UbisoftConnectID>\8006 |
Epic Games Launcher | C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\<UbisoftConnectID>\8006 |
Mac | ~/Library/Containers/Assassin’s Creed Shadows/Data/Library/Autosave Information/saves |
Similar to previous Ubisoft releases on PC, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has the same major paths to the save files. Steam users will have to open the 1081 folder, while Ubisoft Connect and Epic Games Launcher users will need to open 8006, which is the game ID for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on these clients.
Inside the folders, you’ll find the save data for autosaves, and manual saves as well as your options. While everything is automatically backed up to the Ubisoft Cloud service if you want to back up the save files, I recommend backing up the entire folder (1080 for Steam and 8006 for Ubisoft Connect / Epic Games Launcher).
Total Save Slots in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
There are a total of twenty manual save slots and five autosave slots in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This allows for plenty of flexibility when it comes to saving and accessing data. To start a new game, simply select Memories in the main menu, followed by Shadows and then “New Game“.
In addition to several save slots, Assassin’s Creed Shadows also has cross-progression support so you can pick your progress on any other platform you have purchased the title on.

Just like previous Assassin’s Creed releases on Steam though, Assassin’s Creed Shadows does not have Steam Cloud support. Instead, you’ll be making use of the Ubisoft Cloud services regardless of the client you’re playing it on. It’s a mostly reliable service, though it can be a bit inconsistent in my experience, which is why manual backing up can be useful.
This means that if you’re playing the game on the Steam Deck, you’ll need to upload and download the data to the Ubisoft Cloud service. Honestly, this is the most annoying part when it comes to a lack of Steam Cloud. Outside of that, we’re glad to see that all the data is conveniently available on PC and that Ubisoft has included several save slots for players to freely create save points throughout their playthrough.
