Firaxis has announced that their next project will be Haunted Hollow. By contrast to their recent titles like XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Sid Meier’s Civilization V, the platform for the game will not be consoles or PC.
Haunted Hollow will be a free-to-play iOS title, not a AAA release at retail. The game will still have strategy in it, so it’s still very much in the wheelhouse of Firaxis.
The setting of Haunted Hollow is that of a beastie-spawning mansion, where you build minions to fight for you. Players will send in the creatures into battle that are based on classic monsters like werewolves, vampires and Frankensteins.
The payments will come in the form of power ups for each monster. Players will be able to play online through Game Center or locally through pass-and-play.
The game will apparently be accessible to strategy veterans and also to casual gamers as well. Expect Haunted Hollow to launch on the App Store in Spring 2013.
