Square Enix’s quirky adventure series The World Ends With You, which got its start years ago on the Nintendo DS but hasn’t been seen much since, could very well be on the verge of a comeback. A sub-domain has opened up on Square’s website that indicates a special countdown, one that will expire in about six days time. If you take a close listen to the music – as well as the font that’s being used for the countdown timer – you’ll see that it’s quite similar to The World Ends With You, which is also under the name Subarashiki Kono Sekai in Japan.
The characters from The World Ends With You previously appeared in this year’s Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance for Nintendo 3DS, and it was well received, so Square Enix could possibly be going forward with a sequel to the original DS game.
Back in April, Tetsuya Nomura of Square indicated a possible addition to the series, stating, “Regarding The World Ends With You, I can’t say anything at present, but there probably is something.” And now we can confirm there is.
Stay tuned for more info!
