The Witness Puzzles – Opening Area

Make your way through the first eight puzzles leading up to the laser activation.

The opening area of The Witness has some pretty tricky puzzles, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the general puzzle aspects of the game. This portion of our guide covers every puzzle from the very start of the game to the opening of the gate in the first area. Be sure to check back with us as we’ll be adding more puzzles and an explanation of how the puzzles work all this week!

Puzzle #1

Location: At the end of the first hallway.
Objective: Unlock the door.

Puzzle #2

Location: After the first door.
Objective: Unlock the door.

Puzzle #3

Location: When you reach the first open area, walk straight ahead.
Objective: Activate the power cable.

Puzzle #4

Location: Follow the newly activated power cable.
Objective: Activate the second power cable.

Puzzle #5

Location: Follow the second power cable.
Objective: Activate the third power cable.

Puzzle #6

Location: Follow the third power cable to the grid at the gate, then follow the black power cable through the doorway in the far left corner.
Objective: Activate the fourth power cable.

Puzzle #7

Location: Follow the other black power cable from the grid at the gate, through the doorway in the far right corner.
Objective: Activate the fifth power cable and unlock the gate.

Puzzle #8

Location: Grid at the gate.
Objective: Unlock the gate.
