The Witness Headlines April’s Free Games with Gold Lineup on Xbox

The Witness joins Assassin’s Creed for Xbox’s free game lineup in April.

Today, Microsoft revealed the upcoming free Games with Gold for April 2018. Xbox users with an active Xbox Gold membership can look forward to downloading various free games each month for both Xbox One and Xbox 360. Headlining next month’s free Games with Gold lineup on Xbox is Jonathan Blow’s unique puzzler The Witness, which will be available alongside several other titles throughout April.

The Witness will be available free on Xbox One all month long from April 1 to April 30. The Witness is a puzzle-driven exploration game with complex line-based puzzles scattered throughout a vivid, colorful island.

If stealth games are more your style, then there’s something for you in April’s Games with Gold lineup as well. Halfway through April, Xbox One users can also pick up Assassin’s Creed Syndicate for free starting on April 16 and ending on May 15.

Thanks to backwards compatibility, each Games with Gold lineup also features a pair of free Xbox 360 games as well. In April, Cars 2: The Video Game will be available for free on the Xbox Store from April 1 to April 15, with Dead Space 2 to follow on April 16 to April 30.

Due to the backwards compatibility of the previous two games, all four games in April’s Games with Gold lineup can be played on Xbox One as well. If you plan on downloading any of these games for free next month on Xbox, just make sure your Xbox Live Gold membership remains active.

The current Xbox Games with Gold lineup is still available for a limited time, with Trials of the Blood Dragon and Quantum Conundrum available for free until this Saturday, March 31. You can pick up Superhot for free as well until April 15.
