A young Geralt of Rivia has been cast for the upcoming Netflix The Witcher series found in actor Tristan Ruggeri. Ruggeri will be portraying a much younger version of the show’s main protagonist played by Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill for the upcoming series that will adapt the book series that inspired CD Projekt RED’s beloved RPG adventure.
For those not familiar with the story of Geralt and his upbringings, don’t expect a Disney fairytale. Witchers are monster slayers forged through diversity and pain, something that is learned at a very young age. Their strength and abilities are honed through years of bloodshed and conquering fears, something that Ruggeri must portray on screen to start out his acting career. From tales of madness to magic, this young Geralt certainly has his work cut out for him.
Though we don’t know exactly what capacity his role will take place in, one can assume it will be in the form of flashbacks since the main narrative will revolve around Cavill’s Witcher. Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date at this time outside of knowing that the show is on schedule for a holiday 2019 release exclusively on Netflix.
The upcoming show stars Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill as the main protagonist himself, alongside Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold. The author of the books himself is also on board with the project, working as the creative consultant for Hissrich’s vision.
You can learn even more about the upcoming show with our previous coverage here, including why the series will “never, ever” adapt the games.
