Watch 20 Minutes Of The Outer Worlds Here

Fallout New Vegas in Space looks awesome!

Earlier this week we talked about our impressions of The Outer Worlds during our interview with Obsidian earlier this month at E3. Now we’ve got a video from the E3 Coliseum showing off 20 glorious minutes of The Outer Worlds and how the Fallout New Vegas 2 in Space is shaping up. Spoiler alert: It’s incredible.

For those familiar with the Fallout series, V.A.T.S are a way to really harness the spirit of controlled combat, and though we’ve previously known that The Outer Worlds will have something similar, we’ve gotten a chance to see up close and personal exactly how it works during an interview with the devs during E3 2019.

Obsidian Entertainment gave us the wonderful Fallout New Vegas, and though we won’t be getting a sequel anytime soon, Private Division’s The Outer Worlds is an incredible new experience that offers what wastelanders love from the wasteland and takes that experience to space. During a private demonstration, the team over at Private Division walked us through a mission that involved taking out a creepy cannibalistic factory owner in charge of slaughtering disgustingly mutated “boarst wursts,” – AKA: weird ass pigs.

During our time, we saw a wide variety of weaponry that really tailors to different playstyles. More than that, we saw exactly how drastic the different choice options were and just how paragon and renegade a player can go. As a huge V.A.T.S fan from Fallout, seeing their take on it with the Tactical Time Dilation feature was a treat – a way to slow down combat for a more tactical advantage, all the while framing the experience in a pretty purple light.

It pretty much works exactly the same way with the exception of a Pip-Boy, and it’s a little less clunky than previous iterations. Pairing this feature with a sniper rifle was the absolute best, making it super satisfying to deliver that perfect headshot every time. That, and it just makes surveying an enemy camp even easier by allowing strategy to play a much bigger role in combat, something Obsidian is definitely known for.

From what we saw with our private demo and talking to the team, this is 100% going to satisfy that craving that people have had for a sequel to Fallout New Vegas. If that’s a title you enjoyed and you’re looking for something similar that can carry its own name, Outer Worlds is definitely that title.

The Outer Worlds officially makes its debut on October 25 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. For more about the exciting new adventure:

“In The Outer Worlds, you awake from hibernation on a colonist ship that was lost in transit to Halcyon, the furthest colony from Earth located at the edge of the galaxy, only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy it. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.”
